General Summary:

The Sr. Director, ICX Data, Analytics & AI leads the intelligence engine behind Vertex’s integrated customer experience. This role is accountable for the data, analytics, models, decisioning, and AI agents that power precision engagement today and enable Vertex’s broader agentic capabilities over time.

The role sets the strategic direction for ICX data and AI capabilities; oversees the intelligence layer across the customer experience; and partners with Digital Technology & Engineering/Data Science Solutions (DTE/DSS), Commercial, Legal, Medical, Regulatory, and external vendors to deliver compliant, scalable, and commercially impactful solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

- Set and execute the data, analytics, AI, and agentic strategy and roadmap for the ICX organization, aligned to commercial priorities and enterprise technology direction.
- Own build, buy, and partner decisions, including investment cases, capability roadmaps, vendor selection, and value realization.
- Lead the end-to-end intelligence layer supporting the integrated customer experience, including data products, customer analytics, predictive models, next-best-action decisioning, and AI agent portfolio.
- Establish and scale AI agents and AI/ML capabilities that improve precision engagement, enable orchestration across channels, and advance Vertex’s agentic maturity.
- Own enterprise measurement and the commercial closed loop—turning customer engagement, channel, and performance signals into actionable insights and measurable business results.
- Define and lead ICX data strategy, data governance, data quality, and Responsible AI practices.
- Serve as the senior ICX accountability point with Legal, Medical, Regulatory, Privacy, and Compliance partners to ensure AI and data solutions are compliant, transparent, defensible, and fit for use.
- Partner with DTE/DSS on shared infrastructure, data foundations, engineering standards, integration, model operations, and scalable delivery.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of approximately 9 direct reports spanning data strategy, analytics, data science, AI, measurement, and decision science.
- Develop the internal talent bench and external vendor ecosystem required to deliver strategic capabilities at speed and scale.
- Champion AI, data, and digital literacy across the Commercial organization to drive adoption, responsible use, and return on investment.
- Partner closely with ICX Platforms and other cross-functional stakeholders to connect intelligence, activation, measurement, and customer experience outcomes.

Education and Experience:

- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in data science, analytics, computer science, engineering, business, or a related field preferred.
- Significant leadership experience in data, analytics, AI/ML, decision science, digital strategy, or customer experience.
- Demonstrated experience translating data and AI capabilities into measurable commercial, customer, or business outcomes.
- Experience developing and operationalizing data products, predictive models, next-best-action or decisioning capabilities, and AI/agentic solutions.
- Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, Responsible AI, model risk, privacy, and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to lead complex build, buy, and partner decisions and manage strategic technology or analytics vendors.
- Experience leading high-performing, multidisciplinary teams and influencing senior stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
- Experience in biopharma, healthcare, or another highly regulated industry strongly preferred.

Pay Range:
$228,000 - $342,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
