Your Specific Responsibilities:

The Community Health Nursing Director-SEs is a professional leadership position as such the incumbent is expected to utilize current leadership and managerial skills when using independent judgment in formulation or assisting in formulation of nursing policies and procedures which have significant impact in personnel administration and/or preparation and administration of nursing budgets. This position overseas the primary care clinic, family planning, Sexually Transmitted lnfection, Epidemiology, and immunizalion programs for the Florida Departrnent of Health in Desoto County (DOH-Desoto). This position reporls to the DOH-DoSoto Administrator. This position spends the maiority of the time engaged in supervisory responsibilities. This includes communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating employees in addition to planning and directing employees' work. The incumbent has the authority to hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees or effectively recommend such action. The incumbent will also be required to develop performance expectations, meet with staff regularly to discuss performance, complete performance reviews, maintain vacation and work schedules, ensuring proper coverage, and complete timesheets.

- Participates in general policy and program formulation in a localunit and interprets nursing implications.

- Analyzes and plans for present and projected needs in accordance with agency objectives, community needs and available resources.

- Directs the nursing services in a CHD with relatively stable services and small staff with occasional changes in program guidelines and staff needs.

- Analyzes and reports emerging problems or trends in the delivery of health services to the CHD administrator.

- Collaborates with other health care providers to provide comprehensive integtated services.

- Reviews and updates all nursing care policies and procedures regularly to assure consistency with the law and with community health nursing practice standards.

- Develops and evaluates standards and criteria for a quality assurance nursing program.

- Achieves equitable and reasonable distribution of work among staff members.

- Directs the maintenance of an acceptable system of recording and reporting

- Participates in preparation of the CHD budget and administers the approved nursing budget.

- Promotes and plans for a work environment conducive safe and efficient client services.

- Utilizes nursing practice standards to monitor the nursing practice of professional and ancillary nursing personnel to assure the delivery of quality nursing services.

- Develops and implements plans for the recruitment and the professional guidance of nurses.

- Provides for the planning and implementation of inservice education.

- Provides administrative leadership to nursing areas of community health unit offce operation to maximize efficiency, productivity and services.

- Represents the nursing section with voluntary and official community agencies and programs at the local, district and state level

- Participates in studies and research projects related to community health nursing as well as CHD programs.

- Performs related work as required.

Qualifications:

Minimum

- Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. This may include working in a special needs or Red Cross shelter, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural.

- This position requires daily in-office or field work. Willing to physically come in the office to perform the duties & responsibilities of the position.

- Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship

- Have a current Florida Registered Nursing License

- Have current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

- Florida driver’s license

- Verifiable experience managing nursing personnel or clinical staff

Preferred

- Florida Department of Health experience

- Bachelor's Degree preferred but not required
