The Central Arkansas Library System (CALS) is seeking a dynamic, customer-focused, and collaborative Branch Manager to lead the Thompson Library, located at 38 Rahling Circle, Little Rock, Arkansas. The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of branch operations, including daily service delivery, staff hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, performance management, and evaluation. Additional responsibilities include some budget-related cash handling, project leadership, and ensuring exceptional customer service throughout the branch.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong leadership, supervisory, and project management skills, along with experience utilizing library technologies, electronic information services, and emerging trends in public library service. The ideal candidate is an innovative and approachable leader who values collaboration, embraces change, and is committed to serving a diverse community of all ages and backgrounds. Active engagement with and knowledge of the local community are essential.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Master of Library Science (MLS) degree from an ALA-accredited program, or current progress toward an MLS; or
· A bachelor's degree plus at least three years of related experience and/or training; and
· Previous management or supervisory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements:
Candidates must be able to reach, bend, lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods as needed.
Schedule:
This position requires flexibility and includes some evening and weekend hours.
Compensation:
Salary starts at $55,307 annually, accompanied by an outstanding benefits package.
