Software Engineer, Mission Systems

As a Mission Systems Software Engineer, you will be a part of the team responsible for building the software systems and infrastructure that enable efficient operations, testing, and maintenance of autonomous aviation systems.

You’ll develop and maintain software products running on Linux environments across the aircraft, control center, and cloud. Your work will directly support the development and operation of the Reliable Robotics autonomy system.

Responsibilities

- Define the architecture of the airborne, ground, and cloud systems that support aircraft communications, fleet operations, and data management
- Develop, debug, and deploy software across the entire stack, from embedded systems and Linux platform software up to the application layer
- Drive integration of complex third-party hardware and software systems into the Reliable Robotics autonomy platform
- Ensure high performance and reliability of software systems that will be used on a daily basis in both R&D and production environments

Basic Success Criteria

- B.S. Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years systems-level programming experience in Rust and/or C++
- Experience working in environments where software is deployed and used on a daily basis in production

Preferred Criteria

- Practical industry experience deploying software to and using Linux in production, including networking, containerization, and profiling/performance management
- Proficiency with deploying and managing infrastructure in AWS, and developing systems that interact with AWS services
- Fluency with networking concepts such as UDP/IP, NAT, sockets, and routing
- Experience working on software that drives hardware systems
- Experience with distributed systems and messaging protocols

A highly reliable communication system is required in order to safely remove the pilot from onboard any aircraft. At Reliable, you will have the opportunity to build systems that span aircraft hardware, mission infrastructure, and command centers to realize this vision.

Must be willing to travel 10% of the time.
