The Job:

We are seeking an experienced Manager, Ethics & Compliance – Mexico to join our Ethics & Compliance organization. This position will serve as a key compliance resource for Mexico, partnering closely with business leaders and corporate functions to identify and mitigate compliance risks, strengthen the company’s culture of integrity, and support the effective implementation of the global Ethics & Compliance program.

A significant component of this role will be leading and conducting complex, sensitive and confidential internal investigations, including matters involving potential violations of the Code of Business Ethics, anti-bribery and anti-corruption requirements, conflicts of interest, fraud, harassment or retaliation related to compliance concerns, and other allegations involving potential misconduct.

The successful candidate will combine strong investigative capabilities with sound legal and compliance judgment, business acumen, discretion and the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders in a complex multinational organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Investigations & Case Management
- Lead and conduct confidential and, where applicable, legally privileged internal investigations involving allegations of misconduct, violations of the Code of Business Ethics, company policies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Independently assess allegations, determine appropriate investigative scope and methodology, identify relevant witnesses and documentation, and develop investigation plans.
- Conduct or oversee witness interviews, document reviews, fact-finding activities and other investigative procedures.
- Partner with Legal, HR, Internal Audit, Security, Finance and other relevant functions to ensure investigations are appropriately managed and escalated.
- Prepare clear, objective and well-supported investigation reports, documenting facts, findings, conclusions and recommended remediation.
- Exercise sound judgment regarding investigation escalation, interim measures, disciplinary considerations and remediation.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality, documentation, records and chain of custody of investigative materials.
- Identify trends, systemic issues, root causes and control weaknesses arising from investigations and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
- Support the development and continuous improvement of investigation protocols, procedures, tools and best practices across Mexico and the broader Americas organization.

Ethics & Compliance Program

- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and internal stakeholders on ethics and compliance matters, including anti-bribery and anti-corruption, conflicts of interest, confidentiality, trade compliance, sanctions, data privacy and other relevant compliance risks.
- Implement and enhance the Ethics & Compliance program in Mexico and the rest of Latin America in alignment with global policies, standards and risk priorities.
- Conduct periodic compliance risk assessments and develop risk-based action plans and control enhancements.
- Own and support compliance monitoring, testing and risk-driven reviews, including follow-up on identified gaps and remediation activities.
- Track, analyze and trend compliance cases, control gaps, root causes and remediation actions to identify emerging risks and opportunities for program improvement.
- Identify pragmatic, commercially appropriate solutions to compliance risks while maintaining appropriate control standards.
- Partner with business and functional leaders to embed ethical decision-making and compliance practices into day-to-day operations.

Training & Communications

- Develop and deliver engaging, risk-based ethics and compliance training to employees, leaders and other relevant stakeholders in Mexico and, as appropriate, other countries in Latin America.
- Develop and execute local compliance communications and awareness initiatives that keep ethics and compliance visible and relevant to employees.
- Provide guidance and support on new or enhanced policies, procedures and compliance requirements.
- Act as a visible ambassador for the company’s culture of integrity and “The SBD Way – Do the Right Thing.”

Business Partnership & Risk Management

- Establish strong relationships with senior business leaders and key stakeholders, serving as a practical and trusted compliance advisor.
- Collaborate closely with Legal, HR, Finance, Internal Audit, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations and other control functions.
- Partner with business operational risk teams to ensure compliance activities are appropriately aligned with business risks.
- Support third-party compliance processes, including risk assessment, due diligence, contractual requirements and ongoing monitoring.
- Monitor regulatory and business developments relevant to Mexico and other countries in Latin America assess potential implications for the company.
- Support regional and global Ethics & Compliance initiatives and projects as required.

The Person

The ideal candidate is an experienced ethics and compliance professional with substantial hands-on investigation experience and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, multinational environment.

You bring strong judgment, discretion and analytical skills, combined with the ability to communicate effectively with employees and leaders at all levels. You are comfortable handling sensitive matters, challenging business decisions when appropriate, and translating compliance requirements into practical business solutions.

You also have:

- Demonstrated experience leading and conducting complex internal investigations, preferably within a multinational corporation, law firm, regulatory environment or similarly sophisticated compliance organization.
- Strong investigative interviewing, fact-finding, evidence assessment and written reporting skills.
- Experience managing sensitive and confidential matters with a high degree of discretion and professionalism.
- Strong knowledge of ethics and compliance principles and experience applying them in a business environment.
- Demonstrated experience with compliance risk assessments, monitoring, testing and remediation.
- Experience with anti-bribery and anti-corruption compliance programs and other high-priority compliance risk areas.
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish credibility and influence stakeholders across different functions, seniority levels and cultures.
- A practical, business-oriented approach to identifying and mitigating risk.

Education & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Internal Audit or a related discipline.
- Advanced degree in Law, Internal Audit or a related field preferred.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in Ethics & Compliance, investigations, legal, internal audit, risk management or related fields.
- Significant experience conducting and/or leading internal investigations is required.
- Experience working within a multinational organization, preferably a publicly traded company.
- Experience developing, implementing or managing elements of a regional or global compliance program.
- Experience with program management, strategic planning, risk assessment and control improvement.

Additional Qualifications

- Fluent Spanish and English required.
- Portuguese language capability is a plus.

- Experience interpreting and applying compliance policies and applicable Mexican and international legal requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex matters clearly to senior leaders.
- Strong project and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple matters of varying complexity.
- High level of integrity, discretion, independence and professional judgment.
- Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within diverse, global and cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Mexico and internationally as required.

Location

This position will be based in Mexico, with the flexibility to be in either:

Mexico City or Monterrey, Mexico.

The position follows a hybrid working model and will require periodic travel to company locations and other sites in Mexico and Latin America
