Catalent’s Madison, Wisconsin site is a state‑of‑the‑art biologics development and manufacturing facility supporting customers from research through early‑ and mid‑stage clinical production. Located at 726 Heartland Trail in Madison, the approximately 102,700‑square‑foot GMP facility specializes in mammalian cell line engineering, drug substance biomanufacturing, and biopharmaceutical development, utilizing flexible single‑use systems to enable rapid scale‑up and customization. The site is home to Catalent’s proprietary GPEx® and GPEx® Lightning technologies, which are used to generate high‑yielding mammalian cell lines for biologic therapies, and supports production scales ranging from 50 to 4,000 liters for clinical manufacturing. Following a $45 million expansion announced in 2025, the Madison site has significantly increased capacity, added new equipment, and created approximately 200 highly skilled biohealth jobs, further strengthening its role within Catalent’s global biologics network and Wisconsin’s growing life sciences ecosystem.

Position Summary

We have an opportunity for a Technician II - Facilities, Calibration to join our team. In this role, you will perform calibration and maintenance activities to ensure reliable operation of equipment and facilities. You will work closely with other departments to support production schedules and maintain compliance with cGMP standards. This position offers the chance to contribute to continuous improvement and operational excellence within a dynamic biomanufacturing environment.

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm
Location: Madison, WI
100% Onsite

The Role

- Work independently and with minimal supervision while sharing knowledge and training newer technicians.
- Use judgment within defined guidelines to identify solutions to problems.
- Coordinate with other departments to schedule activities around production schedules.
- Create out-of-tolerance reports and assist in documentation review.
- Develop instructions for routine and new work tasks.
- Design new approaches to technical problems using complex principles and concepts.
- Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment to perform duties.
- Complete non-routine repair work orders for regulated and unregulated systems.
- Document work performed following required documentation practices.
- Escort and supervise contractors during inspections or repairs.
- Perform complex troubleshooting related to assigned duties.
- Coordinate with shipping for offsite vendor services and track equipment status.
- Contribute to maintenance and calibration procedure updates and improvements.
- Identify and order spare or replacement parts using the inventory management system.
- Recommend facility improvements to meet OSHA, ISPE, or FDA guidelines.
- Participate in Safety or Environmental Engagement Committees.
- Lead onboarding of new equipment and retirement of obsolete equipment.
- Other duties as assigned

The Candidate

Minimum Requirements

- High school diploma with at least 5+ years of relevant experience, or Technical/Associate degree or Bachelor's in a related maintenance field with 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing facility supporting equipment maintenance.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- General facility repair, maintenance, and up-keep skills.
- Ability to apply basic math.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, and other Office systems.
- Ability to review data to ensure completeness and organization.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to execute or monitor corrective actions independently.
- This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen, reaching with hands and arms, talking, writing, listening. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, carrying, grasping. Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Must comply with EHS responsibilities for the position. Working conditions will be Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioned controlled. Ability to operate within a clean room environment as needed.

Preferred Skills & Background

- Experience with BlueMountain (BMRAM).
- Experience working in a cGMP environment.
