Overview
Pipe Welding Instructor – 3rd ShiftTraining Department (QP Training – D973)
QP Training is seeking a motivated, organized, and safety‑focused Pipe Welding Instructor to join our Weld School. In this role, you’ll play a key part in developing and qualifying the next generation of skilled welders. Role and Responsibilities:
• Lead multiple welding-related classroom courses, including Workmanship, Back to Basics, and Safety Briefs• Provide hands-on instruction, practice sessions, and testing for welding students• Enforce all safety rules and regulations—both in training areas and during deck plate audits• Evaluate student performance and identify nonconformance with established procedures and technical requirements• Support course content reviews and help maintain up-to-date training materials• Conduct scheduled assessments and meet with HR Business Partners regarding student progress when needed• Grade quizzes and tests consistently to ensure accurate knowledge capture• Collaborate with instructors across all training shifts to coordinate work and communicate issues• Assist with special training projects as required• Support department goals and participate in the development of the Lifting & Handling ALC Active Learning Center

Work Schedule:
• Standard 3rd shift hours: 11:00 pm – 7:30 am , with flexibility to adjust as business needs change• Ability to work overtime, including weekends, when directed• Willingness to support short-term training assignments on other shifts as needed
This position would report to the Quonset Point Facility in North Kingstown
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years Pipe Trade Experience
- Minimum of 2 years Pipe Welding Experience
- Currently qualified for 3 or more welding processes (Ex. GMAW, SMAW , GTAW)
- Be able to qualify for respiratory protection
Preferred:
- Certificate, Associates or advanced degree
- Prior teaching experience
- Minimum of 3 years of Electric Boat experience
- Experience with AWPSS
- Currently qualified for 3 or more welding processes, including mechanized, and GTAW
- MDD-00948 VT certified

- Have a willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities and duties as needed
- Have a willingness and desire to learn and teach new courses and team members with a variety of learning abilities
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to maneuver throughout the facility and units to support all areas as required
