Systems Security Engineer I (For 2026 Interns Only)

As a Systems Security Engineer I, you will contribute to the design, implementation, and maintenance of our secure operating systems, networks, and applications. You will be responsible for ensuring the protection of our IT infrastructure through incident response, digital forensics, and vulnerability assessments.

Responsibilities:

- Assist in the design and implementation of secure IT systems and networks.
- Perform security monitoring and tuning to identify and mitigate potential threats.
- Participate in incident response, digital forensics, and loss prevention activities.
- Conduct risk and vulnerability assessments to identify security weaknesses.
- Develop and implement security controls and protocols.
- Research and recommend new security tools and technologies.
- Document security breaches and assess the damage they cause.
- Assist with the development of security policies and procedures.

Qualifications You Must Have:

- Bachelor's degree in Systems Security, Network Engineering, Information Technology, or related Engineering discipline.
- 0-2 years of experience in IT security or a related field.
- Relevant experience can be considered as a substitute for the required educational qualifications. In the absence of a degree, a minimum of 4 years of related experience is required.
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and standards such as National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), ISO 27001.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer:

- Information System Security Officer (ISSO) Security+, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP+) Certification.
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Linux, and/or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Security Certification.
- Experience with security tools such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
- Experience in the aerospace or defense industry.

Essential Functions:

- Ability to work primarily at a computer for extended periods.
- Capability to participate in on-call rotation for incident response.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Ability to work in an office or hybrid environment.
- Occasional travel may be required.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $82,039.23 - $112,803.95. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
