Were looking for a Broadcast/IT Maintenance Technician who isn't just looking for a job, but a chance to be the technical backbone of WLUC. Whether its ensuring our live streams are rock-solid or keeping our newsroom systems firing on all cylinders, youll be the one making sure the magic happens—across every screen.
Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Own the infrastructure: Install and maintain the video, audio, and computer systems that power our station, from server-based record systems to non-linear editors.
Bridge the digital divide: Manage servers, network security, and network services to ensure our multi-platform content reaches our audience without a hitch.
Support the storytellers: Provide direct technical support for the News Department, ensuring our reporters and anchors have the tools they need to win the day.
Master the hardware: Take charge of PC hardware and software support, installing and repairing workstations on-site with precision and speed.
Keep us on the air: Assist with the maintenance of transmitters, studio equipment, and Master Control to ensure our signal—and our reputation—stays strong.
Secure our future: Apply regular security updates and develop a deep knowledge of facility-specific IT needs to keep us ahead of the curve.
Manage the fleet: Help keep our team moving by scheduling vehicle maintenance and performing weekly inspections (because news happens everywhere).
Maintain the environment: Handle general building maintenance and even assist with plowing at studio or transmitter locations when the U.P. weather gets "interesting."
Qualifications/Requirements:
Technical foundation: An Associates degree in IT, electronics, or a computer-related field (you know your stuff).
A "get it done" attitude: Youre a self-starter who can work efficiently without someone looking over your shoulder.
Problem-solving prowess: Youre proficient at troubleshooting and can stay cool when the pressure is on and the clock is ticking.
Digital fluency: Strong familiarity with Microsoft operating systems, Office, and core LAN/WAN networking technologies.
Communication skills: You can explain technical issues to non-technical people without making it weird.
Physical agility: Youre comfortable climbing a ladder (up to 10 feet).
Flexibility: You understand that media is a 24/7 business and are ready to accommodate shift changes, including evenings and weekends.
A team-first mindset: Youre dedicated to quality and love working with other departments to reach a common goal.
