The Job Details: The Carrier Engagement Logistics Coordinator will drive the sourcing, negotiation, and onboarding of high-performing refrigerated motor carriers across our national network. In this role, you will leverage market intelligence, strategic RFP bids, and carrier management platforms like Goodship and RMIS to optimize transportation spend, maintain cold-chain compliance, and secure reliable surge capacity. Serving as a key operational partner, you will drive carrier accountability through rigorous scorecards, resolve real-time transit exceptions, and help mentor emerging logistics team members.

Independently source, vet, and contract temperature-controlled motor carriers
Negotiate spot rates, contract lane pricing
Participate in regular reefer RFP bids and mini-bids to secure baseline reefer capacity for surge seasons and high-volume customer accounts.
Maintain a qualified backup carrier pipeline to mitigate lane fallouts and unexpected capacity crunches.
Seek new refrigerated carrier partners using USCS data, systems, or cold calling
Verify high-liability reefer insurance policies, motor carrier safety ratings (FMCSA/SAFER scores), and cargo coverage minimums.
Take initiative to drive spend improvement for USCS
Onboard refrigerated carrier partners utilizing RMIS or other carrier qualification technology
Monitor carrier performance using core metrics: On-Time Pickup (OTP), On-Time Delivery (OTD), On Time to Arrival Before In Transit (OTABIT), tender acceptance rates, and primary tender compliance.
Lead weekly touch base meetings with regions to review carrier needs
Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with core carriers to review scorecard performance, service failures, and volume commitments.
Resolve real-time operational transit exceptions, appointment scheduling delays, and warehouse dwell-time bottlenecks.
Utilize Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to build routing guides, award lanes, and analyze lane cost benchmarks.
Utilize Carrier Management software (such as Goodship) to build bids, measure carriers, look for market opportunities, find carriers
Drive carrier load tracking metrics
Track freight market trends, USDA refrigerated truck rate reports, and DAT/FreightWaves indices to optimize procurement strategy.
Effectively communicate load details with outside carriers

What We Are Looking For:
Education
1-3 years of equivalent experience
Experience
PC, leadership and planning skills helpful.
Experience in AS400, SAP, Word, Excel and Power Point a plus.
Experience with warehouse paperwork a plus.
Ability to thrive in a constantly changing chaotic environment and consistently meet tight timeline.
Ability to coordinate with contracted trucking dispatchers and drivers
