Materials Handler (Backup) - 2nd Shift

Job Overview

This position will serve as a backup to the current material handler in the press department and will be expected to serve as a Machine Operator or Production Assembler when not needed for material handling.

Responsible for performing physical tasks to maintain an efficient product flow, utilizing lean management principles, quality initiatives, and safety protocol, which will involve assembling, loading, storing, locating, documenting and distributing stock within areas as designated as well as operating a injection molding press and assembling products.

2nd Shift Schedule 2:00pm to 10:30pm Monday - Friday with OT as needed weekly and on Saturday

A Day In The Life

Serve as the backup Material Handler by transporting raw materials, finished goods, and supplies using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment.

Support production, shipping, and warehouse operations through loading, unloading, staging, and relocating materials.

Complete daily forklift inspections and report equipment, maintenance, or safety concerns.

Assist with inventory activities including cycle counts, material tracking, and inventory accuracy.

Inspect trailers and materials to ensure safe loading and unloading practices.

Maintain organization and cleanliness of storage, warehouse, and production areas.

Dispose of scrap, cardboard, pallets, and other waste in designated containers.

Operate manufacturing equipment and perform assembly duties when material handling support is not required .

Set up, monitor , and adjust machines following established procedures.

Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, diagrams, and specifications.

Perform assembly operations using hand tools and production equipment.

Accurately record production, scrap, downtime, and inventory data.

Conduct quality inspections and identify product or process issues.

Report quality concerns, equipment problems, safety hazards, and production issues.

Follow all safety, quality, housekeeping, and productivity standards.

Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification through company training.

Experience in material handling, manufacturing, machine operation, assembly, or warehouse environments.

Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Ability to read and follow work instructions, production orders, blueprints, and technical documents.

Basic computer proficiency ; Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP experience preferred.

Strong communication , organization, and problem-solving skills .

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Flexibility to support both material handling and production operations.

Ability to troubleshoot basic production and quality issues.

Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized work environment.

Ability to lift up to 35 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks.
