ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril’s Real Estate & Facilities organization builds and runs the physical infrastructure behind the company’s manufacturing, test, and office footprint. Facilities Operations keeps that footprint running — electrical distribution, mechanical systems, life safety, and the preventive maintenance programs that keep production uninterrupted. As our site portfolio scales, power has become the single most schedule-critical input to new capacity: megawatt-scale loads, multi-year utility interconnection queues, and backup architectures that have to hold up under real production demand.

ABOUT THE JOB

We are hiring a single, deeply technical owner for power across the portfolio — the person the organization goes to before a site is sited, while it is being designed, and for the decade it operates. You will sit at the intersection of pre-construction design, facilities operations, and utility relations: right-sizing demand so we neither strand capital nor throttle production, designing grid and backup systems that survive real-world failure modes, standing up the maintenance programs that keep them reliable, and working utilities across the country to pull energization dates forward.

This is a senior individual contributor role. You will not manage a team on day one; you will influence design decisions, capital plans, and utility negotiations across every site we build.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

- Pre-construction & Design

Own the power narrative for every new site and expansion — from site selection diligence through design development, permit set, and commissioning.

- Right-size user demand. Build load models grounded in actual equipment lists, duty cycles, and diversity factors rather than nameplate sums, and defend those numbers to designers, utilities, and finance.

- Set the grid interconnection strategy: service voltage and configuration, primary vs. secondary metering, transformer and switchgear sizing, and the staging plan that lets us occupy early and scale later.

- Define backup and resiliency architecture — generators, UPS, battery storage, paralleling and transfer schemes, N+1 decisions — tied to which loads actually have to ride through an outage.

- Evaluate on-site generation and microgrid options where they shorten schedule, lower cost, or de-risk utility dependence.

- Review electrical design packages from AE partners; catch the sizing, selective coordination, and maintainability problems while they are still drawings.

- Build the cost and schedule inputs for power scope in capital plans, and flag power-driven schedule risk early enough to act on it.

- Facilities Operations & Operational Excellence

Partner with Facilities to translate each new system into a preventive maintenance program — PM tasks, intervals, spares, and vendor service agreements — loaded into the CMMS before turnover, not after the first failure.

- Own the reliability standard for electrical infrastructure across sites: infrared scanning, breaker and relay testing, generator and ATS exercise regimes, battery and UPS maintenance, arc flash studies, and label currency.

- Establish power monitoring and metering standards so that load growth, power quality, and capacity headroom are visible per site rather than discovered during the next outage.

- Lead root cause analysis on power events and drive corrective actions to closure across design, vendors, and operations.

- Develop commissioning and turnover requirements that Facilities can actually accept — documentation, training, sequences of operation, and as-builts.

- Build the playbooks, standards, and basis-of-design documents that let this work repeat at the next site without starting over.

- Utility Strategy & Acceleration

Serve as Anduril’s connection to the industry, understanding the direction of alternative energy strategies and driving strategic plans for Anduril’s test, proof of concept efforts related to new solutions.

- Serve as the primary relationship owner with investor-owned utilities, municipal utilities, and cooperatives across the U.S. portfolio.

- Find creative paths to fast-track utility work: phased or temporary service, customer-furnished long-lead equipment, contractor-of-choice and self-perform arrangements, construction cost advances, and early-works agreements that start civil scope ahead of the full service agreement.

- Negotiate line extension agreements, service contracts, rate schedules, and cost allocations — and know the tariff well enough to know what is actually negotiable.

- Manage interconnection applications and queue position, and keep energization dates honest and visible to the project teams depending on them.

- Track state, federal, and utility incentive, rebate, and economic development programs, and pull them into the capital plan where they apply.

- Build durable relationships with utility planning and engineering staff so that Anduril is the customer they want to solve for.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- 10+ years of experience in electrical power systems — utility, industrial, data center, manufacturing, or mission-critical facilities — with direct ownership of medium-voltage distribution and backup power.

- Demonstrated experience taking projects from load study through utility interconnection to energization, including at least one project at multi-megawatt scale.

- Working fluency with NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, and IEEE standards, and with the arc flash, short circuit, and coordination studies that accompany them.

- Track record negotiating directly with utilities on service, tariffs, line extensions, and schedule.

- Ability to build and defend a load model: equipment lists, duty cycles, diversity, growth allowance, and the assumptions behind each.

- Experience partnering with facilities or operations teams on preventive maintenance programs, CMMS implementation, and reliability standards for electrical assets.

- Comfort operating as the sole owner of a domain — setting the standard, driving alignment across design, construction, and operations, and being accountable for the outcome.

- Willingness to travel to sites across the U.S. as projects require.

- S. Person status as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.62).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Professional Engineer (PE) license in electrical engineering, or equivalent depth without the license.

- Prior experience inside a utility — distribution planning, key accounts, or service engineering.

- Experience with on-site generation, battery energy storage, or microgrid design and controls.

- Familiarity with high-growth manufacturing environments where power demand changes faster than the plan of record.

- Experience with SCADA, power monitoring platforms, or building management system integration.

- Exposure to secure or classified facility requirements.

Travel & Working Conditions

Expect travel of approximately [25–40]% to active project sites and utility meetings. Work will include time in active construction and manufacturing environments, with appropriate PPE, and occasional after-hours support for outages, switching, and commissioning.
US Salary Range $220,000 — $292,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
