Job Description

Production Scheduler

The Production Scheduler supports production scheduling and work order planning to ensure manufacturing activities align with customer demand, material availability, capacity, and business priorities. This position is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, proactive, and interested in developing a strong foundation in production planning, ERP systems, material flow, and manufacturing processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Assist in developing and maintaining daily and weekly production schedules under the guidance of senior planning team members.
- Create, release, maintain, and track work orders within the ERP/MRP system.
- Review work orders for accurate quantities, dates, material requirements, and production routing.
- Monitor work-in-process (WIP), rework activity, MRB transactions, and order status through completion.
- Review and take appropriate action on system-generated planning recommendations, including reschedule, defer, expedite, and cancellation messages.
- Identify material shortages and proactively follow up with Purchasing, Operations, and other departments until issues are resolved.
- Monitor production performance and promptly communicate risks that may affect schedule or customer delivery commitments.
- Learn and apply capacity-planning concepts to balance workloads and establish realistic production dates.
- Support inventory-management activities, including monitoring excess, obsolete, and slow-moving inventory.
- Maintain accurate scheduling reports and provide timely status updates when requested.
- Participate in meetings and continuous-improvement initiatives related to scheduling accuracy and production performance.
- Ask questions and seek clarification when instructions, priorities, or system information are unclear.
- Develop proficiency with ERP systems, Excel, and planning tools to progress toward independent scheduling responsibility.

Qualifications

- Associate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.

Experience

-  A minimum of 1- 2 years  of experience in production planning, scheduling, manufacturing, supply chain, or a related environment preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

- Basic understanding of manufacturing processes, bills of material (BOMs), and inventory transactions.
- Experience or exposure to ERP/MRP systems preferred.
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to create and update PivotTables, use lookup and conditional formulas, filter and analyze large datasets, and organize information into clear reports.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and complete assignments within established deadlines.
- Detail-oriented with a willingness to learn and grow professionally.
