JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX6 is reimagining local news, and we’re looking for a morning anchor who brings more than polished prompter skills. We’ve moved away from formulaic rundowns and traditional scripting in favor of authentic, unscripted, high-impact local journalism centered on live, breaking, and evolving stories. We need an active journalist and high-energy content creator.

We're also looking for a true newsroom leader - someone who demonstrates and inspires initiative, curiosity, empathy, and accountability.

This role requires a dedicated morning person comfortable with a 2:30 a.m. start time. You’ll kick off your shift steering fast-paced, streaming-first coverage. You'll spend the early morning news hours sourcing original stories and engaging in real-time reporting from the newsroom; you'll then co-anchor late-morning hours. This role isn't about showing up to present the content; it's about actively building it.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Lead with courage, serving as a collaborative newsroom culture setter who fosters an environment of trust and open communication.
- Drive fair, accurate, unscripted, and dynamic morning news coverage on-air and across digital and streaming platforms.
- Pitch, research, and create original story content throughout the morning shift, seamlessly integrating your reporting into live coverage via newsroom hits and anchor-desk coverage.
- Guide viewers through live, breaking news without relying on a teleprompter, acting as a well-informed authority on local, regional, and national stories.
- Conduct meaningful, extended Q&As with field reporters and guests, asking insightful questions that add context to live stories.
- Collaborate with producers, photojournalists, reporters, and digital team members to build a continuous stream of live and active morning content.

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Minimum of five years of on-camera journalism experience; previous anchoring and/or streaming experience preferred.
- Demonstrated track record of leading with curiosity and accountability, with the ability to offer and receive direct, constructive feedback.
- Proven ability to anchor and ad-lib comfortably in an unscripted format.
- Strong news judgement, sharp journalistic instincts, and a track record of enterprise story creation.
- High comfort level with digital platforms, streaming tech, and social media for gathering news and engaging audiences.
- Journalism degree or a closely related field preferred.
- Must be a genuine early riser ready for a 2:30 a.m. call time.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $100,000.00-125,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
