About this role
Invoice Butler is re-wiring accounts receivable with AI agents that help finance teams get paid faster without adding headcount. Our platform automates the manual work behind collections, from customer follow-ups and disputes to supplier portals and payment coordination, while keeping humans in the loop where they matter.
We already manage more than $1B in receivables for growing companies and have helped customers collect millions of dollars in outstanding revenue. We’re growing rapidly and are looking for exceptional people to help us build the future of accounts receivable.
Why Invoice Butler
- Rocket-ship growth. We’ve grown to more than $1M in ARR in under two years, working with fast-growing companies across SaaS, services, technology, and other industries.
- Massive market. Every B2B company needs to get paid. Yet accounts receivable is still largely run through spreadsheets, inboxes, manual follow-ups, and people logging into supplier portals. We think AI can fundamentally change that.
- Real, measurable impact. Our product sits directly in the flow of money. When Invoice Butler works, customers get paid faster, finance teams spend less time chasing invoices, and businesses have more predictable cash flow.
- Build the GTM engine. We’re still early. You’ll work directly with the CEO to figure out how we identify, reach, and convert the next generation of Invoice Butler customers. You won’t inherit a rigid SDR playbook. You’ll help build it.
- Extreme ownership. We’re a small team where everyone owns outcomes, not just activities. Great ideas can turn into experiments the same day.
- Meaningful upside. Competitive compensation plus meaningful equity in a fast-growing, early-stage company.
As Our Founding Sales Development Representative, You Will:
- Partner directly with our Founder & CEO to build and execute Invoice Butler’s outbound pipeline generation playbook.
- Own the prospecting-to-meeting process, identifying companies where accounts receivable and collections are becoming a meaningful operational problem.
- Break into high-value accounts through thoughtful, highly targeted outbound rather than relying on high-volume, generic sequences.
- Build relationships with CFOs, Controllers, Heads of Finance, VPs of Finance, Accounts Receivable leaders, and other stakeholders responsible for cash collection.
- Develop a deep understanding of how finance teams manage receivables today and use that knowledge to create compelling outbound messaging.
- Experiment constantly with new segments, personas, messaging, channels, and campaigns to figure out what works.
- Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Product to turn what you learn in the market into better messaging, positioning, and product decisions.
- Help build our sales infrastructure, including prospecting workflows, qualification criteria, reporting, and the systems we’ll use as the GTM team scales.
- Find creative ways into aspirational accounts, whether through research, events, referrals, partners, investors, or completely new approaches we haven’t tried yet.
You May Be a Fit for This Role If You:
- Have 1+ years of sales development, business development, or early-stage B2B sales experience.
- Have a track record of exceeding your goals and generating meaningful pipeline.
- Are comfortable reaching senior finance executives and can communicate credibly with everyone from an AR Manager to a CFO.
- Know how to research an account and develop a point of view about why they should care, rather than simply putting them into a sequence.
- Are comfortable operating in an early-stage environment where the playbook is still being written.
- Want ownership and autonomy rather than a narrowly defined SDR role.
- Are highly organized and meticulous about your pipeline, follow-ups, and CRM data.
- Have experience with modern sales tools like HubSpot, Clay, Apollo, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or similar platforms.
- Are excited about AI and how it can transform the way finance teams operate.
- Bonus: You’ve sold into finance teams or have experience with fintech, accounting, payments, billing, accounts receivable, or other financial software.
Ideal Qualities
- Commercially sharp. You quickly understand a company, how it makes money, and where Invoice Butler could create value.
- Excellent communicator. You can write an outbound email that actually sounds like a human wrote it and hold your own in a conversation with a CFO.
- Resourceful. When the obvious path into an account doesn’t work, you find another one.
- Competitive and resilient. You’re comfortable hearing “no,” learning from it, and trying again.
- Analytical. You look at conversion rates, messaging performance, and pipeline data and use them to decide what to try next.
- Product-minded. You’re curious about what customers actually need and can connect what you hear in the market back to the product.
- High ownership. If something isn’t working, you don’t wait for someone else to fix it.
- Low ego. You’re willing to do whatever needs to be done to help the company win.
- High ceiling. You want to grow with the company and potentially take on significantly more responsibility as the GTM organization scales.
- Excited to build. The idea of joining an early-stage company and helping create the sales motion from scratch sounds more exciting than intimidating.
Location: New York City, in person, 5 days a week.
