Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for a student pursuing a engineering degree to support the Design to Manufacturing (DTM) Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) team in Naples, FL. The DTM SQE team is responsible for supporting all new product initiatives, as well as sustaining products. The successful candidate will assist in ensuring externally manufactured products meet all design and Arthrex QMS requirements for each project. This individual will gain valuable experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams such as design, supply chain, manufacturing, and other quality teams along with external vendors. This position will gain extensive experience, engaging with external vendors, ensuring that their manufacturing processes can meet QMS requirements through the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). Statistical methods, such as statistical process control (SPC), Gage R&R (GRR), Inferential Statistics, and process validation will be key learning experience for the individual. This role is in between design and the supply chain and thus project management and technical writing skills will be significantly stressed and developed. This co-op will run from January 2027 – June 2027. The ideal candidate will have the availability to work 40 hours per week at our Naples, FL facility.

Main Objective:

To support the Arthrex Quality team, ensuring new and existing Arthrex products are manufactured in a manner that meets both the design and Arthrex QMS requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assist in the evaluation, analysis, actions and closure of vendor caused nonconformance through collaboration with cross functional teams and suppliers.

- Support new product initiative projects by supporting supplier quality engineers with design transfer activities.

- Assist in documentation of final cleaning evidence and validation of new and existing products, including but not limited to cleaning adoption form in addition to reviewing validation protocols to ensure that vendors are abiding by Arthrex requirements.

- Spearhead efforts to update and streamline the cleaning process document process.

- Learn and identify potential areas of improvement and implement the necessary/required QMS updates.

- Support the development of a Production Evaluation Transfer (PET) process and form.

- Learn PPAP and identify key areas of potential improvement, as well as implement QMS document updates to streamline part approvals.

- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

- Enrolled as a full-time junior or above pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Manufacturing or Biomedical Engineering, or a recent graduate within the last six months required.
(Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)

- Prior manufacturing experience and/or knowledge (i.e. injection molding, machining, etc.) preferred.

- Prior medical device experience preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:

Ability to effectively communicate, oral and written, and possess the ability to work through technical issues.

Machine, Tools, and/or Equipment Skills:

- PC; Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

- Experience with Minitab or equivalent statistical software preferred.
