About Your Role

CMTS is seeking a dependable and hardworking Construction General Laborer to provide onsite construction support for the New Concourse B Program at Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) in Jacksonville, FL.

This is a seasonal, full-time position with overtime opportunities supporting a large, active construction program. The General Laborer will perform general construction and site-support activities under the direction of the Project Site Supervisor, including site cleanup, material handling, debris removal, assisting skilled trades, and maintaining safe and organized work areas.

Responsibilities

- Report to the Project Site Supervisor at the assigned time and location each workday.

- Perform general construction labor and site-support activities as directed.

- Maintain clean, safe, and organized construction work areas.

- Pick up and remove construction debris, scrap materials, trash, and other materials.

- Load, unload, move, distribute, and stage construction materials, tools, and equipment.

- Assist with receiving and organizing project materials and supplies.

- Assist skilled trades and construction personnel with general labor activities.

- Perform sweeping, shoveling, lifting, carrying, and other general construction tasks.

- Assist with setup and breakdown of temporary work areas, barricades, fencing, signage, and other site-control measures.

- Assist with maintaining construction access routes, staging areas, and material storage areas.

- Safely use basic hand tools and construction equipment.

- Follow all project safety rules, procedures, and supervisor instructions.

- Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while performing assigned work.

- Immediately report unsafe conditions, incidents, damaged equipment, or other concerns.

- Work safely around active construction equipment and operations.

- Support daily site activities required to maintain an efficient construction operation.

- Perform additional general labor and construction support duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

- High school education.

- Previous general labor, construction, warehouse, industrial, landscaping, roadway, paving, or similar physical work experience.

- Ability to perform general construction labor on a large, active construction site.

- Reliable attendance and punctuality.

- Ability to consistently report to the assigned project site at the required start time.

- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions from the Project Site Supervisor.

- Ability to safely use basic hand tools and construction equipment.

- Ability to work independently and as part of a construction team.

- Ability to work full-time and overtime as required by the project schedule.

- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

- Ability to perform physically demanding work throughout the assigned shift.

- Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation to and from the project site.

- Ability to obtain and maintain required Jacksonville International Airport security credentials and identification badge.

- OSHA 10-Hour Construction Safety Certification or ability to obtain it within the required timeframe.

Preferred Qualifications

- 1–3 years of general construction labor experience .

- Previous experience working on large commercial, airport, transportation, roadway, or infrastructure construction projects.

- Previous experience supporting general contractors or major construction programs.

- Experience with construction site cleanup and material handling.

- Experience loading, unloading, staging, and moving construction materials.

- Experience assisting carpenters, concrete crews, equipment operators, or other skilled trades.

- Experience working around construction equipment and active construction operations.

- Previous airport construction experience is a plus.

Preferred Certifications

- OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification.

- First Aid/CPR Certification.

- Forklift or material-handling equipment certification.

- Aerial lift/scissor lift certification.

- Other construction safety or equipment training.

- Ability to bend, kneel, climb, push, pull, and perform repetitive physical activities.

- Ability to lift and carry construction materials and equipment consistent with the physical requirements of the position.

- Flexibility to work overtime, extended shifts, early mornings, evenings, and weekends when required by the construction schedule.

Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour

Bonus Pay

A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management’s discretion.
