Senior Manager, Mergers and Acquisitions

Job Description:

The Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Senior Manager is responsible for identifying, researching, and evaluating acquisition targets across U.S. markets that align with the company's diversification strategy and business model. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer, responsible for building the target pipeline that informs the company's acquisition strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Research and map key markets across the United States to identify regions and verticals with strong acquisition potential

- Build and maintain a pipeline of acquisition targets that fit the company's business model, using public records, industry databases, licensing data, trade publications, and direct outreach

- Develop market maps, competitive landscapes, and target profiles that clearly communicate opportunity, fit, and risk

- Build investment theses for prioritized markets and targets, including strategic rationale, competitive positioning, and preliminary financial assessment

- Present research findings and recommendations to operations executives, finance, and executive leadership

- Coordinate with executive leadership and corporate resources department heads to support due diligence on prioritized targets

- Build and refine repeatable research methodologies, screening criteria, and tools to support the M&A function as it scales

- Travel as needed to research markets and meet with prospective targets

QUALIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree required; concentration in business, finance, or economics preferred

- 5+ years of experience in M&A, corporate development, private equity, investment banking, or management consulting

- Demonstrated experience independently researching markets or companies and producing clear, decision-ready analysis

- Strong financial acumen, including the ability to evaluate a company's financial position and assess valuation drivers

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint), and experience with industry research databases

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex research clearly and concisely to executive audiences

- Work independently and take ownership of research from initial market scan through final recommendation

- Approach ambiguous problems with curiosity and structured thinking

- Organize and prioritize multiple concurrent research efforts against deadlines

- Exercise sound business judgment in distinguishing high-quality opportunities from low-quality ones

- Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to senior leadership

- Take initiative and seek responsibility beyond the scope of assigned tasks

- Collaborate effectively across the organization

In accordance with Virginia Senate Bill 215 (SB 215), the base salary range for this position is:

$115,000.00 - $165,000.00

Compensation in other cities and states may vary. HITT Contracting offers a competitive total benefits and compensation package including performance-based bonuses, premium health care coverage including vision and dental, employer-matched 401(k), wellness reimbursement program, paid holidays and time-off, and other voluntary benefits and leave types. The determination of salary is based on the candidate’s individual professional experience, qualifications, education, skills, and training.
