As an MBA Summer Intern, you will work on high-impact business challenges, collaborate with senior leaders, and develop strategic recommendations that directly influence company decisions. 2027 MBA Summer Internship Program

The Deriva Energy MBA Summer Internship Program is designed for talented graduate students pursuing an MBA who are interested in developing leadership experience within the renewable energy industry. The program runs approximately 10 weeks, beginning May 24th, and concluding in early August.

This will be based at Deriva Energy Headquarters, located in Charlotte, NC.

MBA interns will have the opportunity to contribute across several business functions, including:

- Corporate Strategy & Business Development – Evaluate growth opportunities, market trends, competitive positioning, and strategic initiatives that support Deriva's long-term objectives.
- Renewable Energy Development – Support the evaluation and advancement of wind, solar, and battery storage projects through market analysis, financial modeling, stakeholder engagement, and development strategy.
- Project Management & Operations – Analyze project performance, improve business processes, and support strategic initiatives across construction and operational assets.
- Finance & Investment Analysis – Assist with project finance, capital allocation, valuation, budgeting, forecasting, and investment decision-making.
- Commercial & Energy Markets – Gain exposure to power markets, offtake strategies, commercial transactions, and market intelligence supporting renewable energy projects.
- Supply Chain & Procurement Strategy – Evaluate sourcing strategies, supplier partnerships, logistics, and operational efficiencies that support project execution.
- External Affairs, Communications & Public Policy – Support initiatives related to stakeholder engagement, regulatory affairs, public policy, strategic communications, and community relations.
- Human Resources & Organizational Effectiveness – Participate in projects involving talent strategy, workforce planning, employee experience, leadership development, and organizational transformation.

Required/Basic Qualifications

- Currently pursuing a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from an accredited university
- Must not graduate prior to August 2027

Desired Qualifications

- Prior professional experience before MBA enrollment
- Strong analytical, financial modeling, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills
- Demonstrated leadership through professional, academic, military, or community involvement
- Strong academic performance and demonstrated leadership experience
- Interest in renewable energy, infrastructure, project finance, strategy, or related fields
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to influence and collaborate across teams
- Self-motivated with a desire to operate in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Passion for the energy transition and sustainable infrastructure development
