Senior Accountant

As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in protecting the integrity of our financial records — owning close, reconciliations, and reporting so leaders across In Tandem can trust the numbers behind every decision.

What you will accomplish:

- Own significant parts of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close — including preparing and posting journal entries, reconciling general ledger accounts, and maintaining supporting schedules for key balance sheet accounts
- Help manage sales tax and VAT compliance — including Avalara setup and maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and multi-state return filing — partnering with outside advisors to register and file correctly and avoid penalties and interest
- Support the calculation of revenue recognition and deferred revenue, and own accrued expenses and prepaid accounts, and commission, bonus, and payroll-related entries
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and lease accounting, and support annual asset verification and impairment assessments
- Prepare journal entries and perform balance sheet reconciliations for Family Wall (a French subsidiary)
- Prepare audit schedules and support our annual financial statement audit, internal control documentation, and tax compliance
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and management/board reporting packages, analyze variances against budget and prior periods, and support cash flow reporting and forecasting
- Find and drive process improvements, with a particular focus on using AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to reduce days-to-close and increase team efficiency
- Assist and back up the Accounts Payable role and assist with expense reimbursement reviews and approvals
- Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, HR, Payroll, and Sales Operations, including preparing monthly departmental reports for review with department leaders

- A clear, confident communicator — in writing and in person — who can translate financial detail for non-finance stakeholders
- Curious and process-minded, always looking for a smarter or more efficient way to get the work done, including through AI
- An analytical problem-solver who's comfortable digging into the “why” behind a variance
- Someone who takes ownership of accuracy and compliance, and follows through without being asked twice

What you bring:

- 3+ years in an accounting role, with some hands-on experience filing sales tax returns
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA and/or Master's in Accounting or Finance a plus
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP, with hands-on experience preparing account reconciliations and journal entries
- Experience working in Oracle/NetSuite, Avalara and advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS; Power Query a plus)
- Comfort using AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT to streamline accounting work
- Strong financial statement analysis skills
- Experience working in a SaaS company a plus
