Position Overview
Make an impact throughout the surgical patient journey as an Advanced Practice Provider within the Department of Surgery.
This APP serves as a key clinical member of the surgical team, delivering high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum of surgical services. With a strong focus on ambulatory specialty care, this role provides the opportunity to independently manage post-operative and surveillance patients while developing expertise in complex wound and ostomy care.
Working closely with surgeons and interdisciplinary teams, the APP plays an important role in coordinating care, supporting patients throughout their surgical journey, and helping optimize outcomes across care settings.

Practice Set ting
Department: Surgery
Care Model: Primarily ambulatory specialty care with perioperative support
Patient Contact: Approximately 35 hours per week
Call/Weekends: No routine call or weekend coverage expected
What You’ll Do
Provide Specialized Surgical Care
1. Provide autonomous outpatient management for post-operative patients, surveillance populations, and patients requiring complex wound or ostomy care.
2. Conduct histories and physical examinations, perform ongoing clinical assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, and provide continued patient education and support.
Support Patients Throughout Their Care
1. Provide education and longitudinal support to help patients navigate their ongoing surgical care.
Collaborate Across the Surgical Team
1. Partner closely with surgeons and interdisciplinary team members to optimize perioperative care and manage complex patient needs.
2. Coordinate transitions across care settings and serve as an advocate for patients throughout their care journey.
Contribute Beyond the Clinic
1. Participate in quality improvement initiatives, workflow development, and process improvement efforts.
2. The role also provides opportunities to engage in research and professional development and contribute to the continued development of the specialty program.

Ideal Candidate Profile
We’re looking for a board-certified Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with surgical experience who is comfortable managing complex patients independently and interested in contributing to specialty program development.
