Shell is seeking a Senior Commercial Operator/ Natural Gas Scheduler to join its team in Houston, TX

Sr. Commercial Operator/Natural Gas Scheduler- The South Operations team is part of the Commercial North America Gas Operations Team and is responsible for the day-to-day operational management of Shell Energy Americas (SEAm) Natural Gas activities in the South US markets.

The primary purpose of this role is to lead the execution of complex natural gas scheduling and operational activities for Shell Energy Americas (SEAm). The Senior Commercial Operator serves as a subject matter expert, manages a larger and more complex portfolio of assets and transactions, provides operational leadership across the team, supports the Commercial Operations Manager with day-to-day operational oversight, and acts as an escalation point for complex operational and commercial issues.

This position requires flexibility to work weekends and holidays on a rotating basis and provide on-call support during evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Accountabilities:

- Manage the most complex scheduling portfolios, transportation paths, storage assets, production supply points, and customer arrangements across multiple systems and pipelines
- Serve as the primary escalation point for complex scheduling, pipeline, customer, and system-related issues
- Independently analyze and resolve operational issues with significant commercial, financial, or regulatory impacts including taking a lead role in managing critical operational events including pipeline constraints, force majeure events, balancing challenges, and system disruptions
- Identify and execute commercial optimization opportunities related to transportation, storage, segmentation, displacement, meter management, and capacity utilization
- Provide guidance and technical expertise to schedulers on operational, contractual, and system-related matters
- Proactively identify operational risks and recommend mitigation strategies to management and commercial stakeholders
- Lead testing, implementation, and training activities related to operational system enhancements and process changes
- Support management in prioritizing workload distribution, issue resolution, and execution during periods of high operational activity
- Partner with the Commercial Operations Manager to develop, maintain, and continuously improve onboarding, training, and cross-training programs to strengthen team capability and coverage
- Build and maintain trusted partnerships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Take a leadership role in coordinating cross-training initiatives, knowledge sharing, and workload balancing to ensure sustainable team coverage and operational resilience
- Serve as an operational leader and role model by promoting best practices, accountability, and operational excellence across the team
- Mentor and coach less experienced schedulers by sharing technical expertise, commercial knowledge, and operational best practices
- Support the Commercial Operations Manager with daily operational monitoring, issue prioritization, and team coordination
- Provide leadership and decision-making support during periods when the Commercial Operations Manager is unavailable
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on process efficiency, automation, controls, and risk reduction
- Foster strong relationships with traders, originators, asset managers, customers, and external pipeline representatives to support business objectives

What you bring

- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- At least 8 years of natural gas scheduling experience
- Experience in scheduling South US region pipelines is preferred
- Knowledge of Gulf Production is a plus
- Endur experience is a plus but not required. Experience with other ETRM systems is also acceptable
- Knowledge of ICE Chat, pipeline EBBs, and/or Microsoft Excel. VBA coding experience is a plus
- Advanced Knowledge of equity production supply, gathering lines, processing plants and/or downstream optionality
- Proven track record of performance and delivery
- Experience and demonstrated success in managing complex multi-stakeholder needs
- Commercial mindset and ability to work effectively with trade desk in transport optimization, segmentation of pipeline capacity and realization of incremental value through commercial operational decisions

What we offer

The base salary range for this position is $124,000 - $186,000 per year.  Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Employees also participate in a company pension plan and a 401(k) plan. Paid leave includes up to 6 weeks of paid vacation time, up to 11 paid holidays, and parental leave offering 16 weeks of paid leave for birthing parents, and 8 weeks of paid leave for non-birthing parents.

Additionally, employees are eligible for short-term disability leave for up to 26 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay as well as Long-Term Disability insurance.
