Ready to join? We are looking for a dedicated and patient focused Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic team. We are a busy outpatient medical office looking for an individual who excels in an environment where teamwork and patient care are highly valued. Responsibilities include assisting physicians and clinical staff in the full scope of orthopedics services. Duties include casting, splinting, dressing changes, wound care, and phlebotomy. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with no weekends or holidays. Position based out of the Chicago clinic.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture; collect, label, and prepare specimens for processing, including cultures as directed.

- Remove sutures and staples and provide wound care and dressing changes as directed by the physician.

- Apply, remove, or assist with casts, splints, and dressings as ordered, within demonstrated competency and practice protocols.

- Prepare and fit orthopedic braces and durable medical equipment (DME); adjust crutches and canes and assist patients with their use.

- Teach patients how to care for casts, splints, dressings, and DME, following provider instructions.

- Prepare treatment rooms, clean between patients, restock supplies, maintain inventory, and assist with ordering and purchase orders.

- Assist with rooming patients and clinic flow as needed; communicate patient concerns promptly to the clinical team.

- Travel to other MOR clinic locations as needed and perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

- At least two years of hands-on clinical experience as a Medical Assistant or in a comparable patient-care role.

- Demonstrated experience in phlebotomy, suture and staple removal, and wound care. These are essential cast-room responsibilities.

- Preferred experience in orthopedics, casting, splinting, bracing, or DME, with willingness to develop additional orthopedic skills.

Pay Range: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour. Compensation at MOR is determined by many factors, which may include but are not limited to, job-related skills and level of experience, education, certifications, geographic location, market data and internal equity. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
