Role Title: Metal Production Welder – Fabricator

Mission: Skillfully produce and manage fabricated products made from corrugated steel pipe materials at quality standards that accomplish company goals.

Roles / Objectives:

- Produce high quality fabricated and specialty products using various corrugated metal thicknesses, structural steel, and plate steel

- Perform detailed pre and post production quality assurance checks (painting, weld spatter, cracks, burn through, cleaning cuttings and filings)

- Become a safe and skilled expert operator of forklift trucks

- Maintain firm knowledge of all SEC metal pipe (corrugations, gauges, coatings)

- Read and interpret shop drawings with strong attention to detail

- Demonstrate good judgment regarding safety

- Practice good housekeeping in fabrication shop, yard, and warehouses, including proper storage and placement of finished product

- Maintain welding equipment, including all facets of MIG and Stick (tip liner, changes)

Qualifications

Competencies:

- 0-1 years of experience

Ability to use and understand tape measures

- Forklift experience

- Ability to operate an industrial saw cutting pipe from 12"-144"

- Ability to learn different gauges 16ga-8ga and

- Ability to learn different coating (galvanized, aluminized T2, polymer) and the

- Ability to learn different kinds of pipe (standard, 5x1, max-flow)

- 2-5 years of experience:

Ability to lay out fittings and create templates for various angles

- Ability to work with metal thicknesses from 18G to 8G (corrugated metal), structural steel, and plate steel

- High proficiency in MIG and Stick welding

- Familiarity with cutting tools: bandsaw, shears, plasma torch, air tools

- Ability to perform multi angle welding (vertical, horizontal, overhead)

- Possess or obtain a valid forklift operators license

- Strong analytical reasoning and eye hand coordination

- Ability to create and foster a team-based environment with fabricators and material handlers

Level I Expectations:

- Knowledge of all safety standards

- Knowledge and dexterity with basic measuring and hand tools

- Ability to identify all material types (gauge/coating)

- Ability to operate a forklift and maintain certification

- Perform basic quality checks (e.g., small fabrications)

- Basic knowledge of small fab shop drawings

- Ability to use oxy fuel torch and plasma cutter

- Ability to perform Stick and MIG welding

- Knowledge of and ability to fabricate SEC stock fabrications

- Ability to fabricate Underground Detention Systems under 60" diameter

Level II Expectations:

- Proficient at all Level I duties

- Knowledge of advanced quality issues (e.g., underground drawings)

- Ability to train other employees on Level I fabrications and duties

- Advanced knowledge of reading shop drawings, including underground drawings

- Ability to perform quality checks on all Level I fabrications

- Ability to fabricate small custom fabrications (Trash Racks, Pond Risers, Half Rounds, etc.)

- Ability to fabricate underground detention systems between 60"–96" in diameter

- Ability to create cut lists for fittings

- Knowledge of and ability to fabricate SEC stock fabrications

- Ability to fabricate Underground Detention Systems under 60" diameter

- Ability to create and foster a team-based environment with fabricators and material handlers

Level III Expectations:

- Proficient at all Level II duties

- Ability to lead the fabrication team

- Ability to train other employees on all Level II and some (or all) Level III fabrications

- Ability to perform quality control checks on all fabrications

- Mastery of reading shop drawings

- Ability to create cut lists for fittings for the entire fabrication team

- Ability to fabricate underground, watertight cistern detention systems greater than 96" in diameter
