Sustainability Specialist

Job Summary

The Sustainability Specialist supports the implementation and adoption of Sundt's sustainability program across the company. This role works with project teams, operating groups, Green Team members, and employee-owners to support sustainability initiatives, engagement, training, communications, and reporting processes.
The Sustainability Specialist is a vital role helping to advance Sundt's decarbonization efforts as a environmental steward in the communities where we live and work.

This position is 100% on-site with opportunities to be hybrid subject to the company policy and not eligible for remote. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorships.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist with sustainability training, education, and engagement efforts that build awareness, understanding, and program participation.
2. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including project teams, operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and more, to support sustainability reporting, documentation, communications, and engagement needs.
3. Develop and distribute companywide sustainability communications, including newsletters, program updates, engagement opportunities, project highlights, and other employee resources.
4. Identify and execute improvements to sustainability guides, processes, employee engagement, and program adoption.
5. Provide support and expertise on sustainability topics such as waste management, recycling, water use, fuel reduction, decarbonization, low-carbon materials, and other jobsite practices.
6. Support adoption and execution of Sundt's sustainability program across project teams, operating groups, Green Team members, and employee-owners.
7. Support project teams with sustainability tools, reporting systems, client requirements, documentation processes, and closeout expectations that support consistent implementation from project start to finish.

Minimum Job Requirements

1. Ability to translate sustainability requirements into practical guidance, resources, and communications for project teams, employee-owners, and other stakeholders.
2. Ability to work collaboratively across project teams, operating groups, subcontractors, suppliers, Marketing, and internal departments.
3. Bachelor's degree in sustainability, environmental studies, construction management, business, or a related field.
4. Basic knowledge of sustainability concepts, including waste management, recycling, decarbonization, resource efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable building materials.
5. Minimum 3 years of experience in sustainability, construction, environmental programs, employee engagement, internal communications, training, or a related field.
6. Prior experience working on or directly supporting construction jobsites, with an understanding of jobsite operations, project team dynamics, and field documentation needs.
7. Strong written communication, organization, relationship-building, and attention to detail.

Physical Requirements

1. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
2. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
3. Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
4. Will interact with people and technology frequently during a shift/work day
5. Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50Ibs on an occasional basis.
6. Will sit, stand or walk short distances for up to the entire duration of a shift/work day.
7. Will use telephone, computer system, email, and other electronic devices on a frequent basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
