Position Summary:

The Flexible Operator I position is responsible for supporting, basic Programming adjustments and fully utilizing highly technical equipment (examples include the Trumpf laser, robotic weld cell, Salvagnini P2, Pivatic and programmable brake presses) so as to ensure a model product according to specifications and machine operating instructions.

Essential Functions:

- The Flexible Operator I must have a high mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn new software. They must have knowledge of Microsoft Programs (Excel, Power Point and Word), above average computer skills, ability to upload and download files, navigate Windows file system and maximize nesting software/sheet utilization. Must be able to demonstrate skill level.
- The Flexible Operator I must have good communication skills (must be able to call and speak to Equipment manufactures Service Center and Repair Technicians via phone and internet).
- Ability to Batch jobs (minimizes scrap and maximizes part count).
- Responsible for the coordination of Daily, Weekly and Monthly PM Action Items - Ability to schedule and document.
- Flexible Operator I shall be capable of performing all of the assigned operations along with meeting satisfactory performance requirements.
- Take an active role in caring for the equipment to prevent breakdowns and defects and help increase overall equipment efficiency through 5S, TPM (total productive maintenance), and other Lean Manufacturing initiatives directed by the Sedalia site.
- They must also actively participate in the Continuous Improvement process as well as safety related activities.
- Capable of performing said operations to close tolerances and shall inspect product for conformity to quality standards as established for the department as a whole. Inspection is to include component defects and operation of all working parts.
- Additional responsibilities include good housekeeping and other assignments as directed by the Supervisor.
- The Flexible Operator I shall be able to work overtime as requested and posted by management.
- Continuously perform all required tasks in a safe manner, adhering to all established safety rules and procedures.  Must take immediate action to correct and/or report any unsafe conditions and hazards.

Laser, Pivatic and Salvagnini Additional Duties and Requirements:

- Operator shall be capable of setting up, adjusting and operating a variety of presses to perform a wide variety of cutting and trimming operations, on a diversified line of products.  The operator must be capable of setting up gauges as well as adjusting ram stroke to shear materials to proper angle to capacity of the machine

- The operator must be able to maneuver sheet metal into cutting position by hand to by use of lift-assist devices.
- All operators must be capable of lifting and stacking parts (up to 40 lbs. into/onto pallets, containers, etc.)
- Operators must be lift truck qualified as position requires stacking/unstacking of heavy sheet stock that exist daily. Unsupervised weekend work is required periodically and the operator must be self-supportive.
- Operator must be able to use the overhead crane as required.
- The operator shall be capable of working from drawings and/or blueprints and possess the necessary knowledge of measuring instruments needed including fluent use of computer skills; capable of nesting parts producing the least amount of scrap, import/exporting files, manipulating dimensions and understanding the sequence of the control features

Qualifications:

- AS degree in machine tool technology, engineering, maintenance technician, or equivalent is preferred --Must have previous CNC setup and programming experience or training
- Prefer 3+ years of experience
- Experience with set up reduction and other lean techniques preferred:
- ·Operation & Control
- Operation Monitoring
- Mathematics (knowledge of geometric tolerances)
- Troubleshooting & Problem
- Quality Control Analysis
- Good manual dexterity
- Ability to read instructions represented in manuals, drawings, schematics etc. and follow them with precision
- Good understanding of quality control principles
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience and ability in using hand tools
