We are seeking a passionate and driven individual to join our team as a Housing Broker in the Wellington Region. This Fixed Term/Secondment opportunity until June 2027 can be based at any Service Centre across Wellington.
The Housing Broker plays a critical role in improving housing outcomes for individuals and families by building strong partnerships across the private rental sector. Working alongside regional housing teams, you will identify housing opportunities, connect clients to suitable and sustainable accommodation, and help remove barriers to securing a place to call home. This is a unique opportunity to influence positive change in our communities. Stable housing provides the foundation for people to participate in employment, support their whānau, and thrive. Through your relationships, initiative, and market knowledge, you will make a real difference in helping people achieve long-term housing stability.
What you'll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana
- Providing valuable housing market insights.
- Promoting MSD housing products and services to landlords, property managers, and community partners.
- Actively interacting and communicating with the housing team to support clients.
- Develop strategic partnerships that increase access to private rental opportunities for clients.
- Proactively identifying and supporting individuals and families experiencing housing challenges to access suitable private rental opportunities.

- Strong knowledge of the private rental market and the wider housing sector.
- Current knowledge of regional and national private rental and housing market dynamics, including challenges and opportunities.
- A comprehensive understanding of tenant and landlord rights and responsibilities.
- Proficiency in promotional and marketing skills, with an understanding of key strategies and approaches.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and influence positive outcomes.
- A commitment to achieving positive and sustainable housing outcomes for clients.
- Outstanding relationship management and communication skills.
- The ability to identify opportunities, think strategically, and take initiative to achieve results.
- Strong networking and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build credibility and trust.
