THE ROLE
We are seeking a Lead, Automation and Controls Engineer to drive the design, development, and optimization of advanced automation systems across our manufacturing sites in Munmak and JangAn , Korea, supporting the Advanced Purity Solutions Division.
In this role, you will serve as a senior technical leader, owning complex automation and controls initiatives from concept through implementation—ensuring safety, reliability, scalability, and measurable business impact.
You will partner closely with cross-functional and global teams to standardize automation platforms, accelerate deployment of strategic initiatives, and strengthen overall manufacturing performance.
This role reports to the Senior Director, Continuous Improvement & Manufacturing Automation and is based in Munmak , Korea.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Own design and integration of advanced automation systems and controls.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for automation ‑ related downtime, quality issues, and system failures.
- Write, debug, and optimize PLC logic and HMI interfaces to improve cycle time, reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
- Develop and implement automated inspection systems utilizing vision, sensors, and gauging to verify part presence, orientation, dimensional accuracy, and cosmetic quality.
- Participants in the development of network strategy on controls standards an d improvement to legacy programs and connections to data systems
- Support internal system commissioning, validation, and acceptance testing.
- Conduct risk assessments, safety validations, and compliance checks.
- Optimize automation for throughput, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Troubleshoot complex control systems and implement advanced diagnostics.
- Mentor and train engineers and technicians on automation best practices.
- Collaborate with global teams to standardize automation platforms and processes.
- Stay ahead of emerging technologies and recommend strategic improvements.
- Traveling to project sites for meetings and start-up of controls systems within the region.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT WE SEEK
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical , Software, or related engineering discipline
- 8+ years of experience delivering automation and controls solutions in complex manufacturing environments
- Expert-level PLC programming (Allen ‑ Bradley/Rockwell or Siemens) with proven ability to design, integrate, and optimize HMI/SCADA systems
- Deep understanding of industrial networks, machine safety, and controls standards governance
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with demonstrated success resolving systemic automation issues
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives, influence stakeholders, and drive cross-functional results
OUTSTANDING CANDIDATES WILL HAVE
- Knowledge of data analytics for smart manufacturing.
- Experience with Ignition software development and integration .
- Exposure to cleanroom automation and high-precision assembly processes.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale automation projects.
- Ability to influence automation strategy and drive continuous improvement.
- Strong English language skills
