Introduction

We are seeking a  Field Application Engineer to support and drive customer engagements   within  Korea This is a  customer-facing, technical individual contributor role , responsible for enabling design wins by bridging customer requirements with MIPS’ product portfolio, including  processor IP, software tools,   and custom silicon solutions .  
 
Your Job

Customer Technical Engagement

- Act as the primary technical interface for customers during pre-sales and early development phases

- Support customer engineering teams in evaluating and adopting MIPS solutions

- Provide hands-on technical guidance on: Processor IP integration, Software toolchains ,   development environments ,   and System architecture considerations

- Support technical discussions to secure   project and   design wins for:   processor   IP licens es ,   software tools, and c ustom silicon programs and solutions. Assist customers in transitioning from   the   evaluation to   design   execution phase

Solution Enablement Help Customers Understand and   Utilize   MIPS’ Value Proposition

- Broad, industry-leading portfolio of RISC-V processor IP

- Open RISC ‑ V architecture flexibility ,   m ulti-threaded, high-performance compute

- Functional safety-ready solutions

- System-level   configurations   for   optimized   performance, power , area ,   and cost

Technical Problem Solving

- Troubleshoot and resolve customer technical issues across hardware and software domains   during   the pre- sales   engagement   phase

- Work closely with internal engineering teams to   address   and   resolve   complex challenges   during the pre- sales   engagement

- Ensure timely resolution of customer issues to maintain   positive   momentum

Collaboration with Sales & Business Development

- Partner with Business Development to support opportunity creation   through   closure

- Provide technical input to   evaluations,   proposals, RFIs, and customer presentations

- Translate customer requirements into actionable feedback for product and engineering teams

Ecosystem & Market Support

- Support engagement with ecosystem partners (software, EDA, design services)

- Participat ion   in customer workshops, demos, and industry events

- Help position MIPS solutions within the broader semiconductor ecosystem in   Japan

Key Qualifications:

- Qualified applicants will have a BSEE, MSEE preferred
- 7+ years relevant experience in SoC/ASIC design and architecture
- Good understanding of RISC and DSP processor architectures
- Good communication and presentation skills, and experience working with customers in a pre-sale process
- Willing to travel (up to 30%) within JP

Preferred Experience:

- Experience in multiple stages of a SoC design, from architecture definition, to RTL (Verilog) coding and synthesis, down to physical design
- Hands-on experience in embedded system design, debug or FW/SW development
- Understanding of DSP algorithms for wireless communication, LiDAR/RADAR, image processing, and advanced sensors is a plus.
- Understanding of AI/ML based system design and use-case requirements
- Understanding of SoC design requirements for automotive functional safety
- Understanding of security concepts and standards-based building blocks for a secure SoC design
- Good written and verbal communication skills along with the ability to break down complex problems into manageable tasks.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical information in meetings, presentations, seminars, product demonstrations, customer training, and to provide guidance to the sales team is important.
