The Opportunity
Minden Medical Center is hiring a Registered Nurse to support maternal-infant health across Labor & Delivery, postpartum/GYN, and the nursery. This role exists to deliver safe, high-quality care for mothers and newborns—from labor and delivery support through postpartum care and newborn care—while providing clear guidance and maternal advocacy.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide bedside nursing care for L&D, postpartum/GYN, and nursery patients, including breastfeeding support and prenatal education
- Monitor and respond to changes in maternal/newborn status; assist with high risk pregnancy management as needed
- Collaborate with physicians and the care team; document care accurately and promptly
Required qualifications:
- Current RN licensure with the Louisiana State Board of Nursing
- One year Nursery/NICU/L&D experience preferred
- Fetal Heart Monitoring preferred; CPR required; NRP within 8 weeks
- Willingness to train and float between units

Youll begin with handoff report, then set priorities for the day as patient needs shift across Labor & Delivery, postpartum/GYN, and the nursery. In the pace of maternal-infant health, youll move from quiet check-ins to rapid response moments—staying organized with real-time documentation and clear updates to providers and teammates. Youll guide families through postpartum care questions, share practical prenatal education when appropriate, and provide hands-on breastfeeding support. As discharge planning takes shape, youll reinforce newborn care routines and help parents feel confident going home. When volume rises, youll reset rooms, anticipate upcoming admissions, and flex to the area that needs you most, keeping a steady, reassuring presence through every transition and end-of-shift handoff.
