About this role

Job Summary:

As a PreMedia – Operator, you are responsible for building, preparing, and outputting files for print according to the specifications and instructions given by the customer and Customer Service Representative.

Essential Functions:

- Create digital templates using Preps.

- Preflight, inspect and troubleshoot digital files for final output.

- Prepare and process digital files for print production using industry-standard software (Adobe Creative Suite, PitStop, Prinergy, etc.)

- Create Imposition of PDF files and approve using Virtual Proofing System (VPS).

- Communicate with internal team members.

- Perform file maintenance for safe keeping and easy retrieval.

- Check imposition and page proofs for completeness, identification, and proper imposition according to customer and company instructions.

- Review customer revisions/corrections against imposition to ensure completion.

- Determine if preceding departments have followed proper planning procedures to meet manufacturing requirements.

- Read and understand prepress tickets to check work for release to production.

- Coordinate to produce and prioritize jobs and when necessary, reorganize to meet deadline changes and updates.

- Follow company guidelines when inspecting proofs (digital and hard copy).

- Prepare hard copy proofs for shipment to customer – rule up, trim, package, etc.

- AS400 and/or Monarch entries.

- Maintain release records for job movements and production log and print out pre-press tickets.

- All other duties as assigned (see addendum for facilities with no CTP department).

- Ability to work with limited direction and supervision, while demonstrating good judgment and strict confidence.

- Ability to learn computer applications as necessary for the position.

- Must successfully complete any training or certification courses required to support or strengthen position.

- Ability to read, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions, work procedures and other related materials.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including strong customer service skills.

- Must communicate appropriate information accurately and clearly as needed.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Must be able to work the required hours, including overtime.

Minimum Requirements:

- High School Diploma or equivalent

- Computer Skills Needed

Addendum:

- Maintain proper plate calibration and imaging settings to ensure optimal print quality.

- Maintain Prepress output systems (Kodak Magnus, Fuji Processors, and Epson proofers).

- Output and verify plates using CTP systems
