Position Overview: We are seeking an excellent, fully qualified and experienced Early Years Teacher to join our dedicated and dynamic team for a five-month maternity leave cover for a Nursery (age 3-4) classroom from January to May 2027. The ideal candidate must be passionate about teaching and committed to providing a holistic education for children. They should also be a collaborative team player committed to the school's ethos, values, and vision.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A recognised Bachelor of Education degree or equivalent from an accredited university.
- PGCE, QTS, or other internationally recognised teaching qualification.
- At least three years of recent experience in whole class teaching within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
- Knowledge and experience in using UK-based systems for assessment and reporting such as Early Learning Goals, Benchmarking, and GL Assessments/CAT4 Assessments.
- Effectively lead and manage within the classroom, including other adults such as Teaching Assistants.
- Demonstrated excellence in classroom practice, preferably externally verified.
- Up-to-date knowledge of Safeguarding and Child Protection practices.
- Comprehensive IT knowledge and capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide excellent pastoral, academic, and behavioural support to children, fostering a positive, nurturing environment that supports emotional development and self-regulation.
- Plan and deliver a play-based, child-centred curriculum in collaboration with the year group team, ensuring consistency, creativity, and responsiveness to children’s needs and interests.
- Create and maintain a high-quality, enabling indoor and outdoor learning environment that supports both child-initiated and adult-led learning.
- Work with children one-to-one, in small groups, and within the whole class to support individual needs and next steps.
- Use observations and ongoing assessment to inform planning and accurately track children’s progress in line with the EYFS framework.
- Support the development of children across all areas of the EYFS curriculum through purposeful play and targeted interactions, including communication and language, early literacy, and physical development.
- Promote children’s personal, social, and emotional development (PSED), supporting independence, confidence, and positive relationships.
- Support parents with referrals to external agencies as needed.
- Collaborate with parents, staff, and external professionals to develop and implement Individual Learning Support Plans.
- Communicate effectively with parents through regular updates, reports, and meetings.
- Commit to Continued Professional Development, actively seeking opportunities to enhance practice and contribute to the ongoing development of the setting.
- Participate in and lead extra-curricular activities where appropriate.
- Fully adhere to and support the Catholic ethos of the school.
Salary and Benefits:
- CI$4,500 - $5,625 per month, tax-free, based on experience and qualifications.
