Job Summary

The Grocery Day Porter ensures the grocery store remains clean, safe, organized, and welcoming for customers and employees throughout the day. This position involves routine cleaning, waste removal, spill response, restroom maintenance, and supporting store operations as needed. The Day Porter plays a key role in maintaining a positive shopping experience and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Maintain the cleanliness of sales floors, entrances, exits, and common areas.

- Sweep, mop, and spot-clean floors throughout the store.

- Monitor and promptly clean spills and safety hazards.

- Clean and restock customer and employee restrooms.

- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners as needed.

- Collect shopping carts from parking areas and return them to designated locations.

- Clean windows, doors, displays, and other high-traffic surfaces.

- Maintain patio, and store entrances free of litter and debris.

- Perform basic maintenance tasks and report repair needs to management.

- Assist with setting up displays, moving merchandise, and other store support functions when needed.

- Follow all company safety procedures and health regulations.

- Provide courteous assistance and directions to customers.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications

Education: No specific education is required.

Experience: Some grocery, restaurant or retail experience is preferred.

Knowledge: Ability to follow directions and established procedures.

Language Skills: Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing.

Math Skills: Ability to perform money-related mathematical calculations.

Other: Individual must have reliable transportation to arrive at work on time.

Other Abilities: Ability to maintain a high level of patience with others. Requires working closely with co-workers for long periods of time. Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
