T he Medical Technologist (MT)/Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) performs a variety of complex laboratory tests and analyses that assist physicians and healthcare providers in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. This position plays a critical role in delivering accurate and timely laboratory results while maintaining the highest standards of quality and patient safety.

- Perform moderate and high-complexity laboratory testing in areas including hematology, chemistry, microbiology, immunology, coagulation, urinalysis, and blood bank.

- Collect, process, analyze, and evaluate biological specimens according to established procedures.

- Review and verify test results for accuracy and completeness prior to reporting.

- Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.

- Perform and document quality control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing activities.

- Identify and resolve testing discrepancies and consult with laboratory leadership as needed.

- Adhere to all laboratory safety, infection prevention, and regulatory requirements, including CLIA, CAP, OSHA, and hospital policies.

- Communicate critical test results promptly to physicians and nursing staff.

- Participate in the validation and implementation of new testing methods and equipment.

- Maintain accurate documentation and records within the laboratory information system (LIS).

- Assist with training and mentoring laboratory students, new employees, and other staff members as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

- Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related scientific field.

- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Medical Technologist (MT), or equivalent through ASCP, AMT, or other recognized certifying agency.

- Current state licensure if required by state regulations.

- Knowledge of laboratory testing methodologies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
