DEPARTMENT: Central Access

JOB TITLE: Central Access Scheduler

SHIFT: Full-Time, 80 hours bi-weekly (Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm) - Off Site from Hospital (Washington Street, Angola)

Benefits: FTE 1.0, Benefit Eligible

JOB SUMMARY

Schedules outpatient appointments and pre-registers patients for their appointments according to established clinical guidelines, insurance regulations and regulatory requirements. Completes appointment scheduling with subsequent order entry, medical necessity checking and pre-certification screening.

Qualifications

- Typing/keyboard knowledge.

- General Computer knowledge

- Ability to multitask and work in fast-paced environment

Experience

- Two years scheduling in the Medical Field

Skills/Competencies

- Clerical and phone skills.

- Good written and verbal communication

- Data entry

- Excellent customer service and phone skills.

- Medical Terminology preferred

Education

- High school graduate

- Medical Terminology preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Schedules non-emergency services.

- Collects pre-admission information and pre-registers patients per the schedule.

- Verifies all scheduled procedures have a valid physicians order, if not, an order is obtained.

- Communicate with ancillary departments regarding schedule availability

- Provides back up for pre-registration/pre-authorization as needed.

- Reviews all procedures, emails and updates as needed.

- Checks for medical necessity.
