Meta is looking for an experienced US Indirect Tax Manager to join our Indirect Tax team. In this role, you'll serve as a trusted tax advisor across the business, partnering with product, engineering, accounting, legal, and finance teams to navigate the tax implications of Meta's evolving business. You'll combine deep technical expertise in US sales and use tax with a passion for operational excellence, driving automation and process improvements that scale with our business. This is a high-impact role for someone who can effectively prioritize and manage competing demands across evolving business needs, enjoys solving complex problems at the intersection of tax and technology, and wants to shape how one of the world's largest technology companies manages indirect tax.
Responsibilities
Research and analyze complex sales and use tax issues to support product launches and business initiatives
Partner with cross-functional teams to identify tax implications of business operations
Oversee the tax characterization of products within Meta's sales tax engine, ensuring accurate taxability determinations
Manage relationships with external service providers to ensure timely, accurate sales and use tax compliance, reporting, and remittance
Drive indirect tax operational improvements with a focus on controls, automation, efficiency, and data analytics
Adapt to evolving business priorities and deadlines while independently managing workstreams and influencing stakeholders across the organization
Qualifications
8+ years of US indirect tax experience
Deep technical expertise in the application of sales and use tax principles to technology products, with the ability to communicate complex tax matters clearly to technical and non-technical audiences at all levels
Experience managing US sales and use tax compliance and accounting, including oversight of external service providers
Experience managing multiple concurrent workstreams, including defining priorities, tracking milestones, and communicating status to stakeholders in a dynamic environment
Experience navigating multiple technology stacks, tax engines, and partner integrations
Ability to balance individual ownership and accountability with cross-functional collaboration Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
Track record of improving and automating tax processes and workflow, including experience with tools like SQL, Python, RPA, or AI platforms
Experience with infrastructure-related tax matters is a plus

Combined Big 4 / law firm and in-house technology industry experience
CPA, JD, or LLM in Taxation
Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
Experience with indirect tax engines (e.g., Vertex)
