Ages:  5-8

Position Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable  Future Scientists Instructor  to lead a week-long STEM enrichment program for youth. The instructor will engage students through hands-on experiments, interactive demonstrations, and inquiry-based learning activities designed to spark curiosity and foster a love of science.

The ideal candidate is passionate about science education and can create a fun, safe, and engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to explore, question, and discover.

Responsibilities

- Plan and lead age-appropriate science lessons, experiments, and STEM activities.
- Introduce students to a variety of scientific disciplines, including biology, chemistry, physics, earth science, and environmental science.
- Facilitate hands-on learning experiences that encourage critical thinking and problem-solving.
- Supervise students throughout the program and ensure a safe learning environment.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain classroom materials, equipment, and experiment supplies.
- Adapt instruction to meet the needs and interests of diverse learners.
- Encourage teamwork, creativity, and scientific inquiry.
- Communicate professionally with program staff, parents, and guardians as needed.

Qualifications

- Experience teaching science, STEM, or enrichment programs for youth.
- Background in science, education, engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Ability to make scientific concepts engaging, accessible, and fun.
- Experience leading hands-on experiments and activities is highly desirable.
- Ability to pass any required background screening.

Preferred Skills

- Experience with STEM camps, summer camps, after-school programs, or youth workshops.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures.
- Ability to inspire curiosity and excitement about scientific discovery.
- Experience developing engaging project-based learning activities.

Education:

- Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

- Teaching: 1 year (Required)
- Science: 4 years (Required)

Ability to Commute:

- Annandale, VA 22003 (Required)
