Position: Onshore Construction Supervisor – Oil & Gas

Location: Angola (Onshore)

Rotation/Schedule: Rotational (e.g., 28x28 or 6x2) or Residential

Reports To: Construction Manager / Project Manager

Job Overview

The Onshore Construction Supervisor oversees daily civil, mechanical, structural, and piping construction activities for onshore oil and gas facilities in Angola. This role ensures site execution strictly adheres to safety standards, quality control plans, approved technical drawings, and project schedules while managing local labor and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

Site Execution & Supervision

- Supervise day-to-day onshore construction work (piping, structural steel, civils, equipment installation, and structural assembly).
- Inspect work in progress to ensure compliance with project specifications, IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings, and international codes (API, ASME, AWS).
- Review daily construction progress against the master project baseline and manage on-site resolution of technical queries (RFIs) with engineering teams.

HSE & Quality Management

- Champion zero-harm health, safety, and environmental practices on-site; lead toolbox talks, Job Safety Analyses (JSA), and Permit to Work (PTW) approvals.
- Ensure strict compliance with Angolan environmental regulations and operator-specific safety guidelines.
- Partner with QA/QC inspectors to ensure non-conformance reports (NCRs) are resolved and quality documentation is maintained.

Workforce & Subcontractor Management

- Direct and coordinate subcontractors and local labor crews, promoting local capacity building and skills transfer in line with Angolan Local Content regulations.
- Plan equipment, tool, and material mobilization to avoid downtime on active construction fronts.

Required Qualifications & Experience

RequirementDetails Education Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Structural) or equivalent technical diploma with extensive field experience. Experience Minimum 8–10 years of experience in onshore oil and gas construction (e.g., central processing facilities, pipelines, gas plants). Regional Experience Previous experience working on oil & gas infrastructure projects within Angola or Sub-Saharan Africa preferred. Certifications Valid BOSIET/HUET (if applicable for site transit), OSHA/NEBOSH, or project-specific safety credentials. Languages Professional fluency in English is required; working knowledge of Portuguese is highly desirable.

Technical & Soft Skills

- Strong expertise in reading P&IDs, isometric drawings, and civil/structural layouts.
- Proven leadership in managing multicultural site teams and direct hire local workforce.
- Proficiency with construction scheduling tools and site reporting systems.
