About this role

Tesla’s
Supplier Industrialization team is responsible for critical raw materials,
component production and qualification activities at suppliers. This role will
primarily interface with SIE engineers and Tesla factories to ensure incoming materials
meet quality & technical requirements. In this role you will work closely
with SIE engineers to drive manufacturing trials at the Tesla factory for NPI
and sustaining production. Additionally, you will work closely with many
organizations both internal and external to Tesla, taking new material designs
from initial concept through mass production.

The battery
cell is a critical component in Tesla vehicles and storage systems. This role
will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to our products. The
work environment is demanding, fast-paced and incredibly exciting. The ideal

- Project manage SIE activities at factory
location and ensure all required milestones are meeting Tesla product
qualification on time
- Act as a technical contact point for SIE
battery cell material manufacturing processes and co-ordinate activities within
internal and external teams
- Act
as primary interface between Tesla factory and SIE engineers for NPI cell
manufacturing trials as well as sustaining production
- Lead SIE battery materials related FAs
at the Tesla factory, use proper problem-solving methodologies to clearly
define the problem statement, find root cause, implement CAs and validate them
at the Tesla factory
- Develop proper measurement systems and
perform correlation studies to align supplier OQC and Tesla IQC
- Act as the go-to person for factory
quality problems related to SIE battery cell raw materials

- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Chemical or
Material or Mechanical science engineering discipline,with 5+ years of industrial
experience in battery cell material manufacturing process & quality control,
including cathode, anode, electrolyte, separator, or related materials
- Experience in NPI programs and
familiarity with phase-gate frameworks such as APQP
- Experience in developing OQC/IQC quality
controls, metrology qualification, measurement system analysis (MSA) for cell
materials
- Must be well versed in statistical data
analysis & process capability analysis and making data driven decisions
- Working knowledge of battery cell
manufacturing requirements, cell performance requirements and corresponding
relationship to material characteristics, and battery materials related problem
solving
- Good communication and presentation
skills. Strong technical writing ability and an ability to explain complex
issues in a clear, concise and simplified manner
- Excellent team building skills in
dealing with suppliers, peers, and other functional areas
