About this role

The Technical Training Instructor for Collision position requires someone with exceptional ability to assess needs, develop & deliver appropriate training solutions, and build strong working relationships and manage regional stakeholders. Individuals must be creative, proactive, organized, flexible, results-oriented, and have a passion for and understanding of electric vehicles.

This individual must have outstanding communication, facilitation, and organizational skills while demonstrating a positive and professional demeanor. The Technical Training Instructor for Collision will take responsibility for ensuring their service region is equipped to deliver the best ownership experience the world has ever seen for every Tesla owner.

- Partner with Territory Director, Regional Service Managers, Collision Managers, Service Managers, Coaches, and Training Team to identify training and development needs within their regions and work within markets to enhance core capabilities and ensure continuous process improvements
- Develop individualized learning plans to ensure Tesla Internal Collision and Tesla Approved Collision Center employees and regions meet readiness targets or associated business metrics and review and provide feedback on training curricula
- Provide ongoing training and development support in the field to ensure a problem-solving mindset is applied and effectively utilized
- Ensure that training programs and processes are accurately and effectively communicated to the field
- Provide on-site coaching and guidance to support the development of critical service skills as aligned with regional objectives
- Provide coaching and technical guidance on paint operation workflows to improve productivity, efficiency, and throughput while maintaining Tesla's quality and finish standards
- Operate a variety of hand, power, and shop tools and collision repair shop equipment proficiently
- Comply with all Tesla safety rules guidelines and standards
- Effectively handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet project deadlines independently in limited supervision environments
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed and assigned

- S3 technician or higher
- Degree or certificate from an accredited university or vocational program in Automotive Technology or Collision Repair preferred, or equivalent hands-on experience
- 5+ years of experience in an automotive collision repair environment, including refinishing vehicles using urethane-based basecoat and clearcoat systems, performing proper surface preparation for paint application, and demonstrating high-quality spray application of primers, sealers, basecoats, and clearcoats, as well as vehicle detailing
- Ability to collaborate with and serve as a partner/consultant to regional leadership and staff
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, along with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
- Valid driver's license required
- Valid passport is preferred, willingness to travel up to 75% domestically and internationally based on business needs
