About this role
G-Research is going through an exciting period of growth in our co-location and low-latency platform. As part of our transformation, we are looking for a highly skilled low latency network engineer to join our Colo Infrastructure team. You will design and build highly available network solutions for our low latency platform as well as the tooling and workflows to ensure the infrastructure is robust, observable and engineered for speed and availability. The infrastructure is highly automated and you will maintain and develop this automation to enable rapid deployment of new infrastructure whilst maintaining reliable operations. Key responsibilities of the role include: Designing and building new co-location network solutions to meet the needs of the platform Optimise the performance, latency and throughput of the infrastructure Lifecycle management and monitoring of Colo Network environment Developing automation and operators to build and extend the infrastructure Working with other platform and development teams to help define standards, best practices and onboard new capabilities onto the platform Contributing to incident response and production reliability On-call responsibilities for the most critical parts of the infrastructure
Requirements
We’re looking for a skilled network engineer with technical experience of managing high performance, low latency, scalable and resilient network infrastructure solutions. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: Designing and building highly available, mission critical networks Optimising low latency networks (including layer 1 switching, RF, LEO, dark fibre), timing solutions (using GPS, PTP, PPS, White Rabbit and NTP) Building packet capture and analysis solutions (including optical taps, SPAN, tap aggregation and timestamping) Running product evaluation and testing Building networks and market connectivity in exchange collocations Evaluating WAN connectivity options for optimal diversity and latency Multicast configuration and troubleshooting In-depth understanding of automation tools, including Git, Python, Jenkins and Ansible
