About this role

POSITION DESCRIPTION

This is a swing shift journeyman level position located in Shelton, Washington at the Taylor Shellfish Facility and is responsible for maintaining/repairing various cannery equipment, processing equipment and facilities.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

- Perform diagnostic, repairs, preventive and maintenance work on processing equipment and buildings.

- Report any company assets in need of repairs to the maintenance manager,

- Report any safety and company policy violations to the maintenance manager or safety manager,

- Compliance with safety and regulatory concerns including food safety,

- May be required to do other tasks as needed

- Ability to receive and maintain training

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

- Experience with trade skills: electrical, plumbing, hydraulics and conveyors.

- Must be able to read and understand; technical manuals, standard operating procedures, schematics, and measuring tapes,

- Availability to work: days, nights, weekends, and on call, as needed,

- Ability to use computers well enough for the job.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, JOB & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

- Minimum 5 years of experience preferred,

- Formal training from an accredited technical college or trade school or completion on an equivalent multi-year apprenticeship program preferred,

- Must be 21 years or older,

- Must possess & maintain a valid Washington drivers license & clean driving record,

- Regular, reliable, predictable attendance,

- Must complete and maintain in-house forklift, tractor, first aid, safety, and H.R., trainings,

- 5 years minimum of applicable experience preferred,

- 3+ years of boiler experience preferred,

- Organization and planning skills,

- Ability to work independently at times with little direction,

- Strong and sound decision-making skills,

- Excellent verbal/written skills,

- Well organized and detail oriented,

- Must maintain positive company morale,

- Must have own tools.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

- Ability to sit, stand and/or walk on uneven ground up to 16 hours per day,

- The employee is required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, and squat 100% percent of the time,

- The employee needs to be able to lift up to 75 lbs. (Occasionally required to exert up to 125 lbs. of force),

- The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus,

- Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and managers

- Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation,

- Must have agility and balance to safely climb on machines, boats, etc.,

- Must be able to drive up to 11 hours per day to multiple locations.
