Weld Inspector
Hourly Rate: $20 to $30 per hour
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Weld Inspector to join our production team. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting hands-on structural and component inspections to ensure all manufactured parts meet strict technical specifications and safety standards. This is an entry-level position focused heavily on physical inspections, product testing, and precise documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Qualifications & Key Requirements Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in a steel manufacturing, welding, shop, or industrial quality control environment. Core Skills: Hands-on experience performing basic visual inspections and dimensional checks on fabricated metal or weldments. Technical Literacy: Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings, fabrication blueprints, and measurement scales. Tools: Proficiency using common hand tools and precision inspection instruments (calipers, height gauges, weld gauges). Attention to Detail: High level of focus required to spot minute structural variations and defects consistently.
Welding & Visual Inspection Weld Integrity Checks: Conduct routine, detailed checks on welds to ensure proper penetration, fusion, and adherence to specified standards. Visual Inspection: Perform comprehensive visual inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished metal fabrications to identify surface defects, cracks, or irregularities. Defect Identification: Immediately tag and isolate non-conforming or defective items to prevent them from moving further down the production line.
Dimensional Verification Dimensional Checks: Utilize standard precision measuring tools (such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and gauges) to perform dimensional welding and component checks against blueprints. Drawing Alignment: Review fabrication drawings and basic blueprints to verify that final product dimensions align exactly with design tolerances.
Documentation & Reporting Inspection Logs: Maintain accurate, legible, and up-to-date daily logs of all passed and failed inspections. Data Entry: Enter quality metrics and inspection results into the internal tracking system or database. Quote/Log Support: Ensure all dimensional deviations or quality issues are documented properly for the engineering and layout teams to review.
Compensation / Pay Rate (Up to): $20.00 - $30.00 Per Hour
