Property Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Property Accountant to manage the day-to-day financial operations and monthly reporting for a portfolio of housing properties. This role offers the opportunity to work within a specialized accounting environment involving housing subsidies, compliance reporting, and regulatory escrows.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare monthly financial statements, including bank reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, income statements, and cash flow analysis for assigned properties

- Lead year-end audit preparation, including work papers and audit packages for external auditors

- Support HUD REAC financial submissions and ensure compliance with lender and investor reporting requirements

- Monitor and reconcile escrows, including replacement reserves, residual receipts, prepaid/delinquent balances, and tenant security deposits in accordance with HUD and state guidelines

- Partner with Regional and Property Managers to review budget variances and ensure accurate financial reporting

Qualifications

- 2+ years of property accounting experience

- Proficiency with property management systems such as Yardi (Voyager/Affordable) or RealPage/OneSite

- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data analysis)

- Strong understanding of GAAP

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Preferred

- Experience with HUD regulations

- Familiarity with MOR audits and LIHTC/tax credit compliance
