Summary of job contents

Approx. 50% of the time: managing the team performance: responsible for the efficient management of the production / logistic line in the shift with a high ability to impact on the Quality, Cost and Delivery ability rates. Approx. 50% of the time: active value creation in the dedicates lines.

Key accountabilities

- Assures and takes responsibility for the trouble-free flow during the shift regarding people, machines and materials.

- Assures staff availability according to their qualifications.

- Manages the shortage or surplus of human resources for the line and cooperates with other team leaders within the shift to allocate human resources between the lines. Replaces (short-term) missing colleagues on the line, within the shift, on demand.

- Is responsible for shift handover and for ensuring trouble-free production / logistic of the next shift by preparing machines, people and materials in advance.

- Considers the deviations from the standard Check List.

- Proposes changes and is responsible for developing and maintaining work standards on the line. Monitors and records deviations from the standard on a daily shift basis.

- Maintains shift priorities/production plan and tasks.

- Meets and monitors the performance according to the indicators and objectives for the day. In charge of the production / logistic line and monitors the performance of his area of responsibility.

- Responds to incidents with the workers by notifying the Value Stream Leader.

- Describes all problems applying the easy problem-solving process.

- Creates, updates, and communicates standardized work.

- Ensures processes and standards according to Shopfloor Management. Conducts and moderates daily small-group meeting based on Shopfloor Management standards.

- Ensures and develops standardized work.

- Frequent coordination with logistics and warehouse / production areas often with diverse interests.

- Rare communication with internal and external auditors.

- Engages and escalates problems with the established Shopfloor Management process.

- Continuously improves work processes within a shift considering OPEX tools.

- Initiates optimizations related to the Value Stream or to workflow improvements in the line.

- Encourages the continuous improvement process according to focus topics.

- Participates in decision making and gives opinion on accepting new facilities, machines and production /products/ in the line.

- Leads and motivates workers in the line through leading by example as well as good management culture.

- Ensures compliance with rules and regulations in the shift.

- Controls absence planning and approvals for team members in cooperation with the Value Stream Leader.

- Decides on substitution and temporary rotation on the line.

- Conducts performance reviews and regularly gives feedback to workers about their performance.

- Guarantees safety on the line.

- Is responsible for the introduction/initial training program of new comers.

- Ensures that the qualification matrix of the employees is updated, that the training needs are defined and that the training on-the-job is conducted.

- Supports Value Stream Leaders in performance feedback for testimonials or the like.

- Strengthens and develops quality and work safety awareness of employees.

Knowledge and Experience

- Requires general computer proficiency.

- Ability to use computer and word processing and spreadsheet software.

- Min. 2 years of relevant professional experience.

- Good knowledge of OPEX production management methods.

- Knowledge of Quality control.

- Good communication skills.

- Good technical knowledge of the products produced in the Value Stream.

- Ability to work in a team.

- Leadership skills.
