About this role

Your mission

- Provide an Occupational Health Service for the site.
- Liaise with occupational health physician on all medically related issues.
- Ensure the occupational health physician has access to G.O.H.S. & AIDD policies and procedures.
- Ensure that AIDD policies and procedures are carried out in accordance with G.O.H.S. requirements and where gaps exist implement changes.
- Promote positive health awareness & wellbeing through education and health awareness programmes.
- Carry out pregnancy risk assessments and report any work restrictions if any to the appropriate personnel.
- Liaise with occupational health physician and appropriate personnel to ensure absenteeism through illness or injury is managed effectively.
- Advise and guide employees on work related issues were appropriate.
- Support the onsite clinical research.
- Provide the company with an effective First Aid Service and an emergency treatment service.
- Act as coordinator on site AED programme.
- Stay abreast of changes in industrial Occupational Health & Safety Legislation.
- Co-operation with outside agencies e.g. Health & Safety Authority.
- Budgetary submissions and controls.
- On an annual basis, establish the functional goals for area of responsibility with Manager. Update and review progress against goals
- on a quarterly basis and conduct annual performance reviews/appraisals and development plans for direct reports.
- Provides direction to plant personnel on health-related issues. Direct and guide Occupational Health administrator in support of site Occupational Heath activities
- Ensure Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) standards are met and all EHS Procedures and guidelines are adhered to. Foster Safety Awareness in the
plant and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

Your profile

- Third Level Qualification in nursing or relevant medical qualification.
- Ideally previous relevant experience in Occupational Health.
- Good Communication & interpersonal skills are essential. This person will have to communicate with all Abbott employees/contractors. There is also requirement to communicate and work effectively with Div and Corporate representative and external bodies in the medical and safety field.
- Confidentiality is essential: Tact, diplomacy, sensitivity required in dealing with and counselling on health/safety matters.
