Our Summer Internship Program runs from mid-May through the first week of August and is a fully in-person experience, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week.
As an LJA intern, you'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals and contributing to real-world projects. You'll be integrated into a team, take on meaningful assignments, and develop the technical and professional skills needed to launch your career.

POSITION OVERVIEW: As an Intern at LJA in our Public Works department, you will have strengths in analyzing spatial datasets using modern Esri web and desktop applications. This individual may perform a wide range of water and wastewater-related tasks, including data editing, analysis, map production, field inspections, and GNSS data collection. The ideal candidate will have a variety of GIS-related skills for both desktop and mobile applications.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:
- Mapping of LJA projects into a GIS-managed database
- Field Work Performing Data Collection and Utility Inspections
- Exhibit Map Preparation
- Data Entry
- Database Management
REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in GIS courses and working towards a Bachelors degree or recently graduated
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good work ethic and punctuality
- Strong communication skills
- Highly organized and detailed oriented
IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:
- Working experience in ArcGIS Pro and/or QGIS is preferred
