Career Land Center is hiring on behalf of a highly respected acute care healthcare facility serving the Overland Park community and surrounding region. The role is in a surgical department.

The Operating Room Registered Nurse plays a vital role in delivering safe, high-quality perioperative care throughout the surgical experience. Working alongside surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and fellow nursing professionals, this position supports patients before, during, and after surgery while ensuring adherence to clinical and safety standards.

Responsibilities

Provide direct nursing care to surgical patients throughout the perioperative process

Assess patients prior to surgery and prepare individualized plans of care

Educate patients and families regarding procedures, expectations, and recovery

Administer preoperative medications and intravenous therapies as ordered

Verify patient identity, surgical procedures, and operative sites in accordance with safety protocols

Participate in surgical briefings, time-outs, debriefings, and universal protocol processes

Monitor patients throughout procedures and respond appropriately to changes in condition

Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical support staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Maintain accurate documentation and uphold regulatory and organizational standards

Assist in managing patient emergencies and urgent situations within the operating room setting

Qualifications

Current Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license required

Registered Nurse Diploma required

Minimum of one year of recent Operating Room experience with both circulating and scrub responsibilities required

Acute care nursing experience required

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire

Schedule

Day Shift: Five 8-hour shifts beginning at 6:45 AM

Night Shift: Three 12-hour shifts beginning at 7:00 PM

On-call responsibilities required during designated non-business hours
