Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and manage legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, and correspondence with precision and attention to detail.
- Conduct legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case preparation.
- Assist attorneys with project management tasks related to litigation, contracts, intellectual property, or regulatory compliance.
- Handle client communication professionally via phone and email; schedule meetings and interviews.
- Manage filing systems both electronically and physically, ensuring all documents are accurately stored and easily retrievable.
- Proofread legal documents for accuracy and clarity; ensure compliance with procedural law requirements.
- Support administrative tasks such as data entry, billing support using PCLaw or similar software, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Coordinate with clients for document review processes; assist with interviewing clients as needed.
- Prepare reports and summaries related to ongoing cases or projects.
- Stay updated on relevant laws including UCC law, employment law patent law, workers' compensation law, contract law, and general & commercial litigation.
Experience
- Prior experience as a Legal Secretary or in a legal support role is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of procedural law, civil litigation support, and legal drafting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and legal research tools like Westlaw or LexisNexis.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Excellent proofreading skills coupled with strong writing abilities for legal documentation.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining professionalism.
- Paralegal experience or background in specific practice areas such as civil litigation, employment law or corporate law is a plus.
- Familiarity with document review processes and client communication protocols.
