About this role

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Building Maintenance Worker I is responsible for basic maintenance of the buildings and grounds (non-permit/licensed repairs); and act as a backup for drivers and janitor.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

- Perform janitorial duties when needed such as cleaning debris and dust

- Act as a backup driver when needed

- Ensuring the buildings have adequate lighting, heating and ventilation

- Responsible for minor repairs and inspections of equipment which may include painting, patching walls, hanging shelves etc.

- Operates machinery and equipment.

- Responsible for moving, transporting, and arranging desks, files, and other office equipment during construction

- Performs other job duties as required by manager/supervisor.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Basic knowledge in maintenance supplies, equipment, materials and methods used

- Ability to make minor repairs to buildings and equipment

- Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions

- Basic knowledge of the occupational hazards and corresponding safety precautions necessary for the safe performance in using equipment to complete assigned tasks

- Must be able to work any day of the week, depending on need

- Current and valid driver’s license required with no violations within the last 5 years.

- Ability to work in a group and independently

- Previous working experience preferred

LANGUAGE:

- Must be able to fluently speak, read and write English.

- Fluent in Chinese (Cantonese and/or Mandarin), Vietnamese, Spanish and other languages may be required depending on location.

- Fluency in other languages are an asset.

STATUS:

This is an FLSA Non-exempt position.

This is not an OSHA high-risk position.
